Is this what receive alignment means ?

Who opened up this can of worms?

"are they true roundtables where other stations are welcomed and encouraged? "

"Tell them to go away until they get their radio aligned and the problem is non existent"

"In most cases, if someone is off frequency, most people will ignore him anyway"

"If not, chase them off SSB and let them run on AM til they wise up"

HAHAHA

On the free-band it is a free for all anyway and if someone wants to operate on 27.567 MHz then HE is on frequency......his frequency. Anyone calling him should also be tuned to 27.567 or it is THEM that is off-frequency.
Not the same argument. You're supposed to tune to the TX stations frequency. If your radio is aligned, then your TX should match his assuming he didnt hack his either. It could be 27.532.62, doesn't matter on free bands or Amateur bands as long as your within the band limits of your licence or 60 meters.

So long as the clarifiers are unlocked and each radio is in alignment with itself; then it is no problem.
That would clean the band up, but if everyone had their radio's aligned, why do the mod?

You take pride in your equipment and make sure yours is aligned, that's great! We need more people to do the same.

If others don't care to , then why encourage bad operating skills and equipment by talking to them.

Instead, encourage them to make improvements to become better operators and we'll all be happy.

.., and you'll be the first one I chase off!

HA, HA, HA! :D

Actually it is the same argument because if the clarifier was NOT unlocked he could not call on 27.532.62 and would indeed be off frequency. :p

fourstring,
This is what we have been telling you all along,
unlocking the clarifier allows you to do what you just said we should be doing, you do understand that part (y)

can you explain how it works when your radio is fixed on TX & you can only move your RX to his frequency ?

he can turn his clarifier to your TX frequency if he chooses,

what happens if he's a guy that ignores or chases away anybody returning to him that is not on his frequency ?:(

What happens when another station joins in the conversation,
which one of you does he tune to ?

Should he have to play twister with his vfo or clarifier in order to hear both of you comfortably ? :(

what about the other half dozen guys that join in,
3 of them have locked clarifiers & 3 have unlocked clarifiers, what happens then ? :(

the simple and only solution is for everybody to unlock their clarifiers so everybody is on the same frequency

just like every HF set out there :D

385 & 555 sound that way because of people with locked clarifiers,
it does not matter if the radio is not aligned at 12oclock on the clarifier or that it drifts with temperature so long as TX & RX track together.

I used 27.532.62 as an example on how any one can call on any number they want, it doesn't have to be on the 5's or 0's, You know that!

For someone to know a station is truly calling on that frequency you would most likely have a VFO tuned real HF radio therefore no hack mods are necessary unless you are a total idiot!

I'll reiterate with your number 27.567 MHz.

If that station WAS calling there then yes, you should tune to his frequency, "HIS FREQUENCY". As a good operator, you should be using a radio on SSB that is known to be good on that mode and also be sure your TX is at least within a few HZ or so.

Do you have a problem with the above statement?

:p:p

All you understand is your own justification for hacking a radio's TX!

We can agree to disagree and leave it at that now...

Sure; you are operating on the freeband
lol . . .

This is true so that means in this case to be a good operator you would need either a ham radio or an unlocked clarifier and a properly aligned CB or export radio in order to call him directly on HIS frequency. LOL :p Unlocking a clarifier is hardly a hack mod really. All you are doing is bypassing a couple switching diodes and supplying a constant voltage source. It's not like you are ripping out or installing dubious parts to increase power or modulation or in any other way make the actual performance of that radio worse on the air.
