No - this isn't a review of this mic. I just heard Alan 477 West Palm Beach FL say to me that he was using this mic on his rig. Incedible sound. I would expect as much from Neumann; they make the finest studio mics in the world - IMO. Skip conditions at the moment are excellent with FL, so we had a chance to talk about it. First off, this mic is using a dynamic element - not a condenser element.

This mic has a suggested retail price of $1,038 and sells for around $719 on the internet. I was surprised that someone would spend that muich on a mic for their radios - that is more than I spent for my whole system. But the mic was one of the very best that I've heard. It is new on the market and is a hypercardiod mic design that was engineered for high SPL (sound presure level) applications. But still very sensitive and articulate at low levels as well. Very impressive!

Nice station there, Alan 477.
Amazing sound and a great mic!

Hello Robb:

Dunno if you hear what he was using besides that microphone?

He said the radio was a FT-1000 (dunno if was a Mark V or MP mode)l,W2IHY processor and the microphone you are describing.

He sounded awesome with out bottom the lows like many operators, very crisp audio, not overdue.
