One of my Youtube subscribers sent me a note with this video that was recently uploaded showing Lyle/KK7P from Elecraft with a team of folks operating the prototype Elecraft KX3 at Mt. I just can't feel the love.

Nice video, looks like they had a good time.

I just can't get into this Elecraft for backpacking and field use. It's design is not ergonomic at all and looks like it would be uncomfortable and awkward to hold. If it had a more mil spec design and feel, then it would be a go. I bet if you were to drop this in the field it would not fare well. I would want to look at some different pouches and cases for it, but to me, it just looks like it is missing something and is out of it's element.

Does it have a separate input for a paddle if you didn't want to use the on board one?

I agree, "looks" kinda fragile.

Maybe they should submit the radio to Otterbox for a cover?
