oh..... finally I found you..
I have the 857 (D as the manual said) and I search everywhere for how to rx and tx at 169... Do you know how??? As I see the mars mod will not help me..

Ok all,

I have the bug again for a new rig :p . What are the MUST haves for the FT-857D for options / extras? Trying to get a feel for a total investment here. I want to run it mobile (mainly mobile) and base. I'm going to work sideband and some DX and want to do 11 meters for emergencies when traveling. I understand there is a cable & computer software interface of sorts?

What do you guys recommend.

I recommend the ADMS-4B software from RT Systems and available from most better ham radio dealers or direct from RT Systems.

https://www.rtsystemsinc.com/FT-857-programming-software-and-USB-cable-s/1928.htm

I have used that for my FT-857 and it works great but you MUST read the instructions before starting and remember to read FROM the radio before attempting to write TO the radio. RT Systems also sells the programming cable however I simply made mine so I cannot attest to the cable itself but after all.....it's just a cable.
