1.
Locate diode D36 and remove it from the board.
2. Cut
the two end wires from the clarifier control at the circuit board
side.
3. Solder
the right terminal wire to ground, and the left terminal to the
(+) side of C66 behind the PLL chip. (Figure C) Also remove R187.
4. Locate
the varactor diode next to the crystal socket and unsolder the stripped
side.
5. Solder
a 5.6uH RF choke in series with the varactor diode as shown in Figure
D.
6. Turn
the unit on with the clarifier control in its fully clockwise position
and adjust the trimmer capacitor (Figure D) for 1KHz above center
frequency. The unit will now transmit above and below the normal
channels and slide down 9KHz below center frequency.
