The DX was on fire yesterday evening in south Texas. I called a few times looking for WDX members , but didn't find any.
I made quite a few contacts on AM and SSB. I had a pipeline to Virginia and the Carolinas.
How do you like the 2016 so far? I plan on getting mine soon. Looking at getting the antenna at about 20 feet to the feed point. I would have got one already, but money is tight trying to get all the materials for my cabin. I have been using an inverted v at 22 feet with good results.
11 meters has been quite in the mornings here in Texas but comes alive in the afternoon. Hopefully i can make some contacts with WDX members later.
At least I have been able to listen to 15 and 20 meters. The dip in 11 meter activity has me really thinking about getting my ham license. I had...
I heard 399 telling someone about the 82 degrees and puffy clouds down in Columbia, then 010 in Hawaii had the show.
I made contacts on AM to south Florida and to southern California from south Texas this evening.
I finally got my Cobra 139 XLR out of storage and hooked it up Saturday. I made some barefoot contacts to the northeast US with it just using an inverted v dipole up about 22 feet.
I added a small heater to it and was able to talk to a station in Australia later that night. Hopefully soon I...

I often get asked what radio I'm using because it sounds so good. It's nice that...
I made a very, very brief contact to Denmark on 27495 USB this morning. Then an hour later I made my first across an ocean FM contact to 030 in Ireland on 26.805 FM. So that was two new ones for me. And this was from my semi using a Stryker 955 and a beat up Firestik! Lots of northeast US and...
I had a long day traveling from east Texas to Midland, TX to make a delivery. I hate working weekends BTW.
Anyway lots of activity from across the pond and here in the states. I only tried a few contacts today. AM and sideband.
After getting unloaded I started heading home. I listened to some 10...
Ok. I have a question, I'm not wanting to start any arguments...
But what is the purpose of radio check-ins 36LSB had people yesterday and today doing check-ins. Then of course I heard people complain about it or people complaining about the people complaining about it...haha.
Just curious.
Skip is rolling in south Texas this afternoon. Made some easy contacts to Florida and Washington state plus some southeastern states. Mostly listening today.
