Uniden PC76XL Philly final suggestions

Got a new in box, working perfectly Uniden 76xl on the way, built in phillipines, do these radios come with stock 1969 final? If not, why do they come with stock? What has been everybody’s experience changing the final to a different one? Which one did you have best results from? I plan to keep this radio as stock as possible, no butchering or golden screwdriver work going on here.

they do not come stock with a 1969 final.
you don't need to change out the final, and unless it is blown, should not.

that radio can be made to sound amazing without doing any of that.
the few watts you might gain from changing out the final would never be noticed on the receiving end.
also most 1969's you find these days are fakes.
real ones are going for 25+bucks if you can find them.

it probably comes with a 2SC2078 final from the factory.

I probably won’t change it, but I do have several real 1969’s to use if I wanted to, I’m aware of the fakes. They are loud, great sounding AM radios

Pretty sure I remember 2SC2166 finals in at least some of them.

I got an older 76XLW here with a stock 2166 in it. Needs audio chip replaced, a new meter and a re-cap then I will report the numbers I get.

Like Nomad says 2SC2166 and you will probably not get any more power out of it if you install a 2SC1969. They do good power as came from the factory and a good tune.

The same person I got this 76XL from has a nearly mint in the box XLW for $70 on eBay as of yesterday

Yea I know, I always just look for those extra couple bird watts if at all possible on these lower power radios, I’m gonna keep it as stock as possible
