I'll try to keep it short. Uniden PC122
I tried a diode in series with R186 to lower the AM deadkey to use with a small amp. On the meter It worked great, with 1W deadkey, 9W Avg/18W PEP. On the scope I can remove all negitive carrier pinch but, even with the limiter all the way up I still have flat tops at the peaks, like Frankensteins Monsters head, it looks like there could be another 50% missing.
I can get rid of the flat tops by putting a resistor in parallel across the added diode resistor pair and lowering the AM power pot more, to make a beautiful scope pattern. This Raises the dead key a bit, lowers the average wattage and the 18 PEP stays the same and I lose a good chunk of envelope growth on the scope, that I'd like to keep for good volume after the amp (Just shy of 100% now).
My question, Is it possible to add the missing PEP to Frankensteins head to round it out, or should I stick with the "extra" resistor because 18 PEP is a sort of hard limit?
It doesn't sound terrible either way, but I know that kind of stuff has to show up as an issue *somewhere*, and that added PEP would be really cool!!!
If anyone has a heatsink mod for these they"d like to share, I'm sure we would all be greatful.
Ill try to add some scope picturess and/or videos after work tomorrow evening.
This schematic is the same even though it's for a Realistic 465.
