500 watt & 1000 watt. First the Maco 200 only uses four tubes yet has 125 watt carrier and makes 500 watts peak out. Some came with 8950 tubes and other uses 6LB6. Replacing the old tubes use 6LB6 and if it has 8950, rewire each set of two tube filaments in series. If good the four 8950 are worth $250.
The best 1000 watt amp IMO is the D&A 10 tube Phantom. 250 watt carrier and 1000 watts peak output. This is a very power amp thus costs a lot of money. Replace the 6LQ6 tubes with 6ME6 less cost tubes that perform same as 6LQ6. Both these amps have the perfect 4 to 1 peak to carrier output for loud audio.
For example, a Pal 321 is 2 to 1 ratio with 250 watt carrier and 500 watt peak. Not loud at all. Both the Maco and D&A needs new HV capacitors. I would replace the low voltage capacitors as well. Non electrolytic capacitors do not need replacement.
