For the last 3 days, I've been trying to make a contact on 38 lsb. I hear this electronic whirring sound all day long. Obviously, it's intentional QRM. Is this something new, or has it been going on for a bit?

Just wondering if I'm gonna have to avoid the frequency.

there is so much garbage on 38LSB ( 111111 guy, music, sirens, etc, etc.) that I never use it. Have been using 37LSB, but it's getting overrun with idiots too. Going the FM route below Channel 1 (26.805), or way above Ch 40.

What a drag. Guess I'll have to spin the dial and find someone decent to talk to.

It's spreading. They are starting to move up above 40.
100 proof and radio is a bad combo...

Unfortunate it's been typical this sun cycle but it has gotten worse in the last few months. Music, the mr x type noise toys, the 111 misfit and even low class types arguing over nonsense

Now as @unit_399 said, unfortunately the riff raff has started migrating into 37 lsb as well so at this rate we'll have them all over the band.

I've been hanging out on 37 or 36 lsb and they occasional show up.

Some people's children. ...

I'll try 37 tomorrow and see what happens. I'm in Athens County, Ohio.

i was listening to some guys in california talking the other day and they said that the 111111 guy is just over the texas border in mexico.

Apparently there are people actively trying to locate him but he's on the other side of the border.

This is just what i heard so i have no idea if it's actually true.

I am starting to get the impression that central and south america are not too happy with us yanks these days and might be trashing the band out of protest.

Speaking as someone in South America, I know for a fact that no one in Colombia is "trashing the band." Colombian operators have more class than that. Several operators I know are actually working on their English so they can QSO with operators in the US.

They'll eventually quit, but some other moron will take their place

There's lots of good frequencies with good people out there still. As JJ said, they are all below 1 or above 40. There are idiots up above 40 as well, but most of them are all on 27.425 so they are easy to avoid.......
CB in western Canada is deader than dead as far as local stuff goes, so skip on SSB is all we got, and it's so much more pleasant operating outside of the regular 40.
I admit I'm a diehard freebander LOL!

I've been going the free band route more and more lately. After trying the freqs outside of the regular 40, I find they're a lot more enjoyable than the "hello/goodbye" contacts on 36 thru 40. A lot less idiots too Right now my 139XLR's limited bandwidth keeps me from really exploring the uppers. But when I get my Quad 6 PRO lined out, I'll probably become a diehard freebander too.

This is long but it follows the radio.
