I hope this is allowed.... (showing a minor piece of test gear I got today)

I imagine most may already have a way that works for them but I am just thinking of newer folks trying to build up some test equipment on a budget.
This might help some on their benches with setting driver/final bias. Surely you can do it with a DMM but some might consider this to be convenient.

I just received what you see below. A 100 mA DC ammeter WITH the appropriate plastic case ($9.95) and a set of clip leads ($4.50).

These are from a website called "Electronix Express" and I believe that they are in New Jersey. Took slightly less than a week to get down here to Deer Park, TX.

The only thing I might say about the meter is that it is AWFULLY light in weight... but it IS just a meter movement and a light plastic case. I am thinking of removing the thin bottom plate (plastic!) and fashioning a more substantial piece of pine and painting it black to give it a little more "heft".

I have the same meter but it’s setup for -0- center so it shows negative current. Same plastic case. I glued a heavy piece of scrap metal inside to weight it down. I’m at the theatre now but I’ll attach a pic when I get home. It was dirt cheap for a zero center meter big enough to read across the bench and it has 2 scales.

EDIT: attached pics;
Meter came with 2 mA ranges. I added the smaller meter on top w/ super glue to better see the lower mA values (tetrode project required monitoring grid current close to zero). Can’t beat the price I forget where I ordered from but you can see it’s the same plastic case.

Thats a good idea.... gluing extra metal. I like that better.

I'm going to take a guess by your handle here (Guitar_1999) that you are interested in audio amps, no? I spent the last few months working a 6v6 stereo amp, you work on music amps?
