    I used to know this...

Just talking legalities here... isn't there some class of license that you are supposed to have in order to repair CB radios? It seems that I remember something about that from years ago but now it has faded. Can anyone tell me?

    RF Gain?

Where it gets a lot of use is, when talking to nearby stations you can turn the RF gain down a bit and reduce the hiss and background noise and still hear the local guy. But, when you turn it down, you are giving up sensitivity so you m ight miss stations that are further off. Kind of a trade-off.

    Here's a question on a base antenna

This antenna is an old, early 80's Radio Shack 5/8 wave vertical, 3 ground plane radials flat, all aluminum, no coating or anything like that and back then, it did it's job reasonable well. Now it is over 20 years later and I have re-connected it to a radio. The first thing that I saw was that...

    Push up poles?

I cant believe Lowe's would have anything like that! But I'll sure give em a call. And, as far as Radio Shack, that's a great idea. Phone calls are cheap..... aand I have a number of them in striking range. Thanks much.

Boy.......... I never dreamed....... two things I guess I didn't learn along the way: 1) tunable Firesticks.......you had BETTER put the red cap on between tuning tweaks, and 2) apparently Radio Shack coax assemblies with the "part metal part rubber" plugs...... stinketh greatly. ON...

Mobile problem...sort of a RF grounding theory type question

I can get a pic but until I do..... This is an '87 Stepside. The antenna mount type is abody panel mount stye (read that..... hog a hole through the metal, stick it in the top, put the big washers and the nut on from below, tighten it down good, and screw on your coax. I have it mounted...

Mobile problem...sort of a RF grounding theory type question

Back in June I resurrected my old '87 F150 Stepside bringing it back from the dead. In so doing I had to troubleshoot a taillight/brake light problem that wound up being that the bed was not properly grounded to the frame (never could find a ground strap and, when I jumpered the lamp ground the...
