I got the Palomar at a good price so that's why I bought it to begin with. But I figured from the get go that it was of lesser quality. What amp would you guys recommend for around 400-600 watts ? Somethin good
I was using a 6' jumper from the radio to the amp and I switched it to a 18' jumper and the SWR went down some but it's still kinda high say a 2.5 and I'm using a Wilson 5,000 magnet mount for my antenna.
I just got a new Palomar LD 450-FET and no matter what I do I can't get the SWR down with it on and from what my meter is showing the most I can get out of it on AM is around 300 watts. Anyone got any advice on this amp? It's the Low Drive version. And I'm using a Uniden 980SSB that dead...
How is this mic compared to the Workman DM-452 echo mic? I have 2 of the DM-452's and the both squeal like crazy especially when running a kicker and it won't stop unless the mic is turned ALL the way down.
I just got one of these same mics also and it's got the same problem. Sounds good with the back off. But when you put the back on it squeals like crazy. Junk
The enourmous bulky coils they installed for 21 MHz (and on some of them 14 MHz) would get "jumped" down to the the few turns needed to tune 27 MHz. Performance can often be improved by simply cutting these coils down to size, removing the exess turns. Again, copying what was alread built into...
I have a very technical question and I hope someone can help me out. I live in a valley basicly surrounded by hills. Right behind my house is a hill and I'm planning on putting my antenna on the top of the hill. My problem is that it's going to take about 1,000-1,200 feet of coax to get from my...
Just tested it this evening and AM it's doing 400-500 watts with weak tubes but my radio is only doing 3 watts dead key and swing is about 7-8 watts. So I don't really think that's bad for what I'm driving it with and weak tubes! It's got 1 6JG6A driving 3 6LQ6 driving 6 6LQ6. 10 tubes...
I just got a very nice D&A PDX-400 today. Wondering what this amp is worth in today's market? And what kinda wattage can I expect this amp to do? It's already got the SSB mod also.
I know where the 3 pots are for SSB, modulation and AM power. I've tuned them all but I can only get the radio to put out MAYBE 5 watts AM and about 8-9 on SSB. Love the looks and features it has but their WAY under powered.
That stinks lol. I've heard of some people getting them to modulate up to 10 watts from a 3 watt dead key. I love the features and looks of the radio but neither of mine seem to perform very well. That's the reason I'm wanting to try and get the power up a little.
How do ya get the output power to 10+ watts on the 980? I have 2 of them and the most I can get out of either of them is around 3-5 watts on AM. Good detailed information would be great!! Please help
