I never use squelch so perhaps the following isn't relevant but here's how I use these radios without squelch.
Have someone with a S3 or greater signal give you some audio.
Set volume
Turn down RF gain 15-20%
Turn on ANL/NB
Turn tone adj up
Then readjust volume so you can easily hear the...
Skip started early on the west coast. I heard Colorado this morning and they were talking to Corpus Christi. Have to see what this afternoon has in store.
Today was the first day in a long time I had wall to wall DX, people coming through on all the channels, multiple states coast to coast + Canada and Mexico all at once.
Reminded of the cycles we had before everything took a dive - hoping it means this next one is a good one!
I finished testing...
Digital version has audio out for headphones monitoring. I use the monitor jack first than adjust using the SDR on air as what comes out of the radio will sound different due to the constraints of the radio unless you are using direct inject.
Mine doesn't have the phantom power so I run the...
They are very cool - I'm currently using the digital version with a condenser microphone and foot PTT. Both versions work great but the digital version is much smaller which is nice (like 1/3 the size).
This radio is really catching on with the CB crowd. Been hearing a lot of people using them on SSB. Another local picked up one here and was talking to him this morning. I've been really impressed with the audio I'm hearing on them on SSB.
Initally I was suprised people were dropping $1K to use...
I tested the antenna with a 102" whip as the top section today
It added 9" to the length (over the stock top section) but I actually saw worse SWR in the CB band and the resonant frequency was still up at 28.000MHz.
Ch 1 - 1.78
Ch 40 - 1.46
The lowest SWR with the factory top section was...
I've you're looking for the most simple and lightest V Quad, if you're ready to take the leap get the M103. Either way you'll need a solid mount and rotor unless you plan to manually adjust or talk in one direction.
You may not like what she says about a V quad or a 3 element yagi then :) No such thing as a subtle beam for looks.
Anyone who comes to your house will always notice it.
I just got done testing this one. https://www.radiowavz.com/product/sentinel-hex-beam-11-m-single-band/85?cp=true&sa=true&sbp=false&q=false
Very lightweight - doesn't take up much space. Some good gain and horizontal polarization. Super easy to assemble. In use it reminded me of the V Quad...
In my trial I just stuck some wire into the end so it was touching and then taped it in place for the quick test. I then did a Nano VNA sweep and saw a 1.042 SWR at 27.3.
I'm going to try a 102" SS whip next and see what results I see. If CB users are going to be more inclined to buy the...
Yes you will likely not be able to get a 1.2 SWR anymore as compared to the old one. In testing it looks like lowest SWR is around 1.38-1.4 across the CB band which would make sense with it being slightly shorter than the old version. The nice thing is it's usable up into 10 meters without a...
