a guy 25 miles away can't hear me on AM, he has 1 to 3 S units from me on ssb. ssb on ground wave should be good for double the distance, pending local interference. elevation also plays a major role.
LMR 240/400 for diesel wagon/base, several coats of liquid electric tape over the crimped connectors, never an issue. never more than 50w or 30ft length. buy once, cry once. the mobile applications see over 3,000hrs ( combined ) per year of 70+mph, sun, salt water on rust belt roads, etc. at...
Mr 399 JJ is about all i have heard this week. sets off my bct7 AM scanner on .375 every time. just him and the guy in Houston holding down .385 for a few hours at a time. California came in 2 days ago, along with the news clips and music on .385. i sure am gonna miss all the folks in the south...

there's a whole pile of patents, laws, agreements, projects, etc available to research on that site. to say chemtrails stop skip is just a lack of information and a big imagination. flares, ssn, sfi, cme, filament eruptions, absorption, magnetopause...
i just got 1 from Scott's. it probably didn't need aligned. i use an astatic 636L mic with the pin#4 sleeve removed from the mic plug. great audio reports on it and the crt6900v. the crt is just blinding blue screen and to change channels is sketchy on the 6900v as well, so consider that maybe
pt99. cheap, works, made it through 70mph breeze. lots may laugh, but it works just fine for me. seen lots of people upset about their expensive antennas. homebrew might be your best bet according to lots of folks
approximate location? if texas, might get too warm on dash. in ohio, i have always mou ted stuff on the passenger side of the center console. big truck has had radio on the dash, but i always cover any radio, any location, so it doesn't sit in the sun. if you keep it within it's operating temp...
i had a truck driver just tell me his connex 4600turbo does twice as much power when his echo is turned on. that's not me saying it, that's just what some folks out there actually believe. he would fight to the death to prove he is right, so i had to just let it be
runnin the blue face CRT on low power, i guess trying to prove to myself that power isn't required. much easier to do on upper sideband where there isn't any traffic. all about those conditions. keeping the meter south of 15w on peaks.
i thank you folks for all the information. already learned (the hard way) about the volume thing with headphones and the sds200. it landed on a trunked fire channel where 1 guy was yelling at another guy at some incident. blew me right out of my chair. eardrums registered 1.21 gigawatts
Is it ok to use headphones through the external speaker jack? Not as worried about just listening as i am transmitting. i have not found anything on the web regarding this. That might be for a good reason, but the curiosity remains. Concern being difference in ohms, and if i would transmit with...
44, 23yr truck driver, 1yr base station operator, won't give it up. I'd estimate less than 5% of folks younger than myself have any desire to talk on the cb radio. if i ask young drivers about cb radio use, they could not care less, only turn it on to request tonnage from a loader. i've been...
thank you Mr Nomad and Mr Coyote. we're going to give it a shot with some cheap wire and other stuff. porch is 40ft long. noise coming from west, but have a major driveway with heavy traffic, a pole with 3 phase, and a major intersection to the west. beyond that 100ft is another pole with 4...

seems to be a bunch of youtube videos on it, not sure if the link or searching utube will be helpful
thank you for your good explanation. i reckon that'd be alike to if the person was speaking slower, allowing more audio to get into human ears? if a station has trouble hearing me, that's my "go to" solution vs echo or yelling at the radio. good topic for posting so others can learn stuff they...
i know a fellow with same radio. very hard to hear him @ 23 miles range with my s6 noise floor. he applied (imo) too much echo, and i could hear him better. when he backed it down to "barely noticeable", it was still carrying better than with it turned off. my $0.02 worth
