DC Grounded Base Load Antenna vs 1/4 Ground Plane mobile antenna

I have posted in other threads in this forum, regarding my work with Workman on some of their antenna line. The antenna I am going to show here, is almost ready. The only issue right now, is the manufacturer included the wrong whips. We are waiting for the correct whips to arrive. However, the...

    Anytone Ares 2

QT-40 was $160 for a while, but back up to $200 now. My bench rate per hour, is more than half the cost of a new radio. Yeah, I'm not cheap, nor are shipping costs. But, you get what you pay for.

    Anytone Ares 2

I am not certain if he contacted Scott's. He did say he was reluctant to contact Scott's, due to Scott's published warranty policy statement that was quoted on here. I am not going to speak for Timmy on this. I have also seen Scott's YT video on this very subject. I have made my observations...

    Anytone Ares 2

Yes they did go haywire and I thought I mitigated this by deleting my reply. Yes it was 18 months. But, if *I* sold it, I would have at the very least, had a look at it. Scott's would not. IMHO, that is *not* standing behind what he sells. Obviously, I am not as impressed with Scott's Radios...

    Anytone Ares 2

How is Scott's radios standing behind what he sells, when you buy an Anytone radio and he clearly states you are on your own after the sale? Sorry, but you have a major contradiction with that shameless plug of a statement.

DC Grounded Base Load Antenna vs 1/4 Ground Plane mobile antenna

The Browning is a copy of the Maxrd/Pctel. The higher freq coil and longer whip is a headache and little benefit. I have tried every coil you mentioned and best result with shunt fed 26-30 MHz coil with long whip, like Wilson 1000 style antenna.

Try searching shunt fed, vs. end fed.

    Anytone at-5555n II (version 2)

The clamp style meters are BS when measuring DC. Hardwire your test leads to the radio. I think you should invest your time in performing the bias procedure, rather than shotgunning the FET's.

Once again they do not make them like they used to... revisited for the 128 time

I have also used the sleeve from an original battery if it is made of plastic. I push the cells out of the end and stack LR44's inside. I have found that the new LR44's suck, like everything else these days and are prone to leakage. I have to check the cells often for this.

    Anytone at-5555n II (version 2)

I didn't have mine open, but Timmy posted a pic in this thread that I looked at. I sort of recalled that the part designation in the PA were descending, or I would have assumed the same as you did.
