This particular 3 digit LED was salvaged from an old Kidde Nighthawk carbon monoxide alarm. Most of these carbon monoxide alarms start to signal “error” after about 3 or 4 years and need to be replaced, but IMO the LED readout is worth saving for various projects. I modified the following...
The Hygain 3077 is the first version of the Hygain 7 series (crystal matrix board). Although they're similar, there's 3 of them. The 3107 is the latest 02A PLL version.
RV2 on page 2 of the pg21 - pg43 pdf is the modulation adjustment.
Be sure to make a note of all the screw locations and the...
Spot on! Be very careful if you decide to test for heat with your finger on that back transistor. I had a customer burn her finger while she was removing that Pace. We never sold those, but only had taken a few of them in for parts on a trade deal. I remember trying to modify one using the push...
I recently screen captured this CB radio from the movie “Death Race.” The Hallicrafters Littlefone CB-3A was a popular 8 channel radio made back in 1962. I recall repairing and wiring a D104 desk mic to one of these for a friend.
I can’t remember what particular mic that I applied this mod to years ago. Anyway, I removed the existing contact assemble, and replaced it with a set of similar long bladed contacts taken from and old telephone relay. Those typically had stacks of multiple NO and NC contacts. I removed the...

Agreed..I replace them with an electrolytic only as a temporary solution, usually when I don’t have an exact replacement in stock. For the time being I wouldn’t worry too much about the stability of an AM only radio. It’s not SSB where drift needs to be kept to a minimum.
IMO There is a list of things that need to be done first to that radio. The corrosive glue needs to be removed. All the electrolytic caps need to be changed. Besides a thorough visual inspection, the glue and caps should all be taken care of before the power is employed. A new power plug and...
A modified version of a comic I saw on the web. A “caveat emptor” warning that should apply to anyone seeking an honest and reliable repairman. I may make some additional changes at a later date....Possible QSL card....LOL
I found the content of WBCQ “The Planet” to be a very diverse. Nowadays, I ‘m not enthused to listen very long with shortwave broadcasts that often fade with audio distortion. Unlike collecting QSL conformations like I did in my youth, I’m now interested only in their content. After looking at...
