What are you talking about?
I run 150 watts into a delta loop and there hasn't been a day where I didn't talk to somebody somewhere in months.
Granted, conditions are terrible at times, and not what they should be, but there IS skip out there.
In the last week I've spoken to several western...
Who else thinks they are blocking the skip with chemtrails or haarp?
:LOL::LOL::LOL::LOL:
I've had at least some skip every day for weeks........ just talked to Hawaii last night.
An A-99 is my second antenna. They are cheap, work every time with a good match, and are surprisingly resistant to wind.
I live on a coastal island in British Columbia, and we get hurricane force winds in the winter that regularly shred antennas, so it doesn't make a lot of sense to put up an...
There was a survey done a few years ago that showed more Canadian high school kids could find Washington DC on a globe than American high schoolers........
So I'm not surprised that many Americans don't know where the U.P. of Michigan is!
That's your problem right there. As I said above, all connections have to be really good and tight ! I hope your using actual battery terminals and not those giant oversize gators like the ones on jumper cables. Those are beyond useless for hooking up an inverter to a battery. Proper...
Homemade is my favorite antenna brand !
Homemade wire antennas cost nothing to make and often outperform expensive brand name antennas !
There's Dipoles, Inverted V's, Delta Loops, Wire Beams, Skyloops and many other kinds of wire antennas that can be easily put together out of wire and scrap...
That my friend is completely insane ! I had one of those to run my well pump.....that's all I ran on it.
I once measured its output with a 1000 watt load and over a ten minute period I had a range of 90 to 150 VAC output, and the frequency ranged from at least 45 to 70 Hz.
If you want a...
Wire Weasel.... Make sure you are hooking it up to a GOOD battery, not some half-ass cheap POS with low voltage.
Make sure your connections are really really good and tight.
Make sure you are giving it the right input voltage.......some inverters run on 12 volts DC, others require 24, 36 or...
A small correction is due, as that's not quite how it works!
The larger diameter pipe does indeed have more surface area, which increases the bandwidth of the antenna, making it useable over a wider frequency range.
The diameter of the radiating element has NO effect at all on power...
Check the SSB carrier balance. If any carrier is being transmitted when in either SSB mode it could potentially make the mod meter swing.
I would also check if the MOD switch is dirty and not working correctly.
If it's not that, I have no idea...........
While this is true in theory, in actual practice it is very rare to find an A-99 or similar antenna that ISN'T affected by its counterpoise. They are also VERY susceptible to having CMC's running back down the coax to the radio.
It's very easy to tell if your coax is acting as a...
Best of luck with that radio; those 3500's do NOT age well. I have a local with one, and it has the fastest drift of any radio I've ever heard. After just a few minutes of use, it drifts from on frequency to 150 Hz below and the user sounds like Mickey Mouse on helium.
After five minutes of...
26.805 is the international FM call channel and there are hundreds of folks all over the world on there. Here in North America we have the "Original 26.805 FM Group" which also numbers its members in the hundreds as well, so there are lots of potential contacts to make on there !
They cost 5 times as much as a Chinese clone, and last at least 8 to 10 times longer, so it is much more economical in the long run to just buy the Honda.
You will also save yourself a ton of aggravation by buying a Honda instead of a Chinese clone. And as a bonus your house and/or shop likely...
I'm not going to risk opening that link either. I sure hope it's not just another rehash of that completely bogus list of countries and frequencies that's been bouncing around the net for years !!
I just wince when I see the words "frequency chart". As someone who has spent almost 40 years...
If you're running expensive radio gear you need to run what's known as an "inverter generator" as these put out a perfect 60 Hz sinewave.
If it doesn't say "Honda" on the case, don't buy it.
My Honda inverter generator generates no RF interference whatsoever. Other brands can be very noisy with...
Why would you want to disable FM? Some of the most fun I had on the radio when the skip was hot last spring was on 26.805 FM. Made literally hundreds of contacts all over North America and into Australia, Ireland, Jamaica and Alaska as well......... just running 150 watts FM into an A-99 or a...
