Home Homebrew 1/4 Wave 10 Meter Ground Plane

Wouldn't want to throw any gas on a fire, but my opinion of single radial 1/4 wave GP is that it is a simple vertical dipole, is not a 1/4 GP, but a 1/2 wave, and should work as well as any good dipole.

    Base A moxon mounting question

I've seen pictures of two moxons mounted in a + configuration. Two coax feedlines, one to each beam. I once mounted a dipole on a pivoting outrigger. It mounted like a T at the top of the mast and hung out on each side a few feet. A rope was tied to the other end of the out. Pull the rope for...

Having some SWR trouble with the MFJ 1890 10 meter moxon

Here are the dimensions I used for making my all metal tubing 11m Moxon. As for the placement of your feedpoint wires, that shouldn't matter except for in one small detail. If your peeling back a coax pigtail and connecting to the feedpoint the length of the peeled coax ends will add length to...

Here is a intetesting Antenna to think about

I did try a shortened loaded dipole above an SUV. I couldn't get the SWR down. I mounted it vertical on the driver's side rear corner and it tuned right up. I made a few contacts with it.

    Antenna model

I thought I've seen a variety that had no gamma, but used a phasing jumper from opposite sides of the two elements that drove both dipoles. It used only the cap...

Here is a intetesting Antenna to think about

I once upon a time thought I would homebrew a Homer version of this antenna type, but never did. . .

Great job with your handiwork. There's nothing like building something that gets the job done.

    AT-6666 MOBILE

Well. Whatever fancy stuff it is, all the way CCW and there is no sound on AM/FM. Same on all the way CW. Don't matter if it's called English Peas, what matters is it is kinda worthless, unless you like left-handed floaties.

    AT-6666 MOBILE

Are ya'll ready for this? Squelch knob operates backward to the radios I've used for years. All the way counter clockwise is maximum Squelch. Stupid. . . perhaps the radio, maybe me.

    AT-6666 MOBILE

Suddenly, my AT-6666 has no sound though the speakers on AM/FM modes. Works fine on SSB modes. No idea how that happened. Squelch knob is all the way to zero/no/nil/nada/none/no way, Jose squelch setting. Put it on a channel on SSB, audio out the speaker. Push the mode button to AM or FM, no...

How to hang wire over asphalt roof?

I have a random length endfed wire antenna I run. The 9:1 transformer is mounted to my wood sided chimney. It goes from there out to a pushup pole and on ... the counterpoise just lays across the shingles. I run 100w maximum and the house don't burn down.

1970's Hy Gain SP-500 VS. Avanti Astroplane

Howdy, Mark. Should have bought a better TV. I never had any problems with my Astroplanes. Just get them in the air, and properly use a Common Mode Choke. Never bothered any electronics and made lots of contacts local and DX.
