How many radios do you run?

Since the question was how many, not what... Not counting donors and parts, 29 working radios - CB, export, 10M-12M, Amateur. Most of the CB, export, and some 10M radios are in need of being recapped. WIP, started with the oldest, working forward. I run: Base: HF = 1 200w HF + 6meter full...

    Uniden Madison - Why?

The PA switch is a DPST switch, so if you use it you will only get 1 set of additional frequencies. There are 2 options with a single DPST switch: ground pin 10 = 27.605-28.045 you probably will have to adjust the VCO to get all of the channels to lock. Ground pin 10 & 11 = 27.455-27.725 you...

    Uniden Madison - Why?

Does your radio use the 11.3258 XO? Are the high channels you get by grounding pin 10 = 27.605-28.045?

    Sams PhotoFacts Collection

Dan, Would you mind making me a copy of the Madison 8719 schematic in volume 230? Every one I have is low resolution and hard to read part #'s when I blow it up. Trying to help a member here. Thanks, Dr_DX

    round 2

Don't forget you have VHF privileges. You can get into a VHF handheld/mobile pretty cheap. Hopefully, you can find a friendlier crowd there.

    Uniden Madison - Why?

Go here: https://www.worldwidedx.com/threads/sams-photofacts-collection.262787/page-28 and ask Dan if he has #230. If he does, ask him to make you a copy of the dimmer/button sub board and it should indicate what TR451 is, At the end of the Madison Photofact, it should also list the part #...

    Max optimizer antenna

Measure you sections and see how long they are. Maybe you got one of the shorter ones. Hopefully not.

    Max optimizer antenna

Nothing, other than a way to screw you out of another $50. Originally the 3 sections were 8' - 24' long. Somewhere along the way (new ownership, shipping, or FCC reasons) they started making the 3 sections 7'8" each. Which lets them work on 10 M but don't tune on 11M. Hence the ripoff $50...

    Max optimizer antenna

Jerry, Welcome. 2.0 was the best SWR you could get after adjusting the tuning rings?

    Max optimizer antenna

The new ones are made for 10M. You have to use the "Max Optimizer" version or if you already have a MAX2000, you will need to purchase the 12" section for ~$50 to get it to tune properly on 11M.

    ultimate antenna question

If your HOA is letting you use a Sirio 2016, then whatever the height to the tip is, you can get a ground mounted multiband vertical that comes to roughly the same height and probably get away with it (The HOA may not even notice the change). It would probably need to be relocated to the center...

    best i can get it

To set the Reference Oscillator properly, according to the instructions, it requires an 8 digit frequency counter with 1Hz resolution to be connected to the TP. It has to be able to read 10.485760 +/- 5Hz MHz If you are going to be working on radios, it is a must have. Also, do yourself a...

Any recommendations for a sub $50 LW, MW, and SW Digital receiver ?

Looking for a LW, MW, and SW Digital receiver that has AM/FM/USB/LSB/AGC/DSP/adj. audio BW filter & freq. step/LI-ion battery and is less than $50. Bonuses would be a built in switchable attenuator, auto scan, memories, 10Hz tuning step (for SSB), Freq. calibration, separate AM/FM antenna...

    very happy day today

Congratz! Welcome to the club. Ah, it brings back a fond memory. (That would be the 15 mint Sacawagea dollars that I won on a bet).

    Anytone at-5555n II (version 2)

My bad. I think I am confusing people. I said NRC, but I meant the NR on the mic. The NR level on the mic can be changed just using the mic middle config switch - you don't have to use the mic up/down buttons to do that.

    Anytone at-5555n II (version 2)

Unfortunately, I don't have the mic to test with but I am pretty sure someone else here or on YouTube mentioned that you can change the NRC level with just the config button - you don't need the up/down buttons to do it - I think it was a YouTube video that has been taken down. (Yes, I know the...

    Anytone at-5555n II (version 2)

The channel buttons also are used to set the NRC level, but another member here said that the NRC button can be used to cycle through the different NRC levels. That being the case, you can modify the channel buttons to work with your Q6/CRT9900. There are 2 pins for each channel button. Look...

    maco V-58 vs. workman W-58

Interesting... Would you mind telling us where/how you know that? Is this something new? I ask because, although it has been a while (7 years), I have had and broken multiple Maco v58 and Workman 5/8's and to me the grade of aluminum used in both seemed to be the same. Maybe Workman made...

Pres Lincoln II+ power on "beep"?

Agreed. I would also add the ability to turn ASC on/off would be nice as well.

    New President Digi Mic

Unfortunately, this is incorrect. PIN 2 is NOT the channel up/down on a Q6 or a CRT9900 mic; they are on PIN 3 with the PTT. This link has the correct wiring info for a Q6 or CRT9900 mic/radio...
