FYI, there has been over 18 months of detailed testing and multiple hardware and firmware revisions done on the PRO. No other radio of this kind has had so much pre-production testing time and engineering effort put in (it's been a huge project). When you get a PRO, you are not the guinea pig...
Yes it supports 15m in expanded mode. Note, 15m is a "gift" band, the performance on 15m is not as good as the bands the radio is designed for (it will have lower TX power and reduced RX sensitivity). However 15m still works OK and is a great option to have.
There is actually a reasonably large demand, and the rumors of a new radio in the near future are great news for the hardcore (crazy?) people like me who want one!

AT-5555Nii wins over the original AT-6666 performance in all areas, assuming you don't mind the size difference.
The new AT-6666 PRO has stability and performance that is at least equal to, or better than the AT-5555Nii. Both are great radios.
FYI, the new AT-6666 PRO has an improved VOX that...
@Eldorado828 You will see an updated AnyTone AT-5555Nii short case radio very soon (it's the 'same' radio as this), and these will replace the older models.
@Wire Weasel yes, these radios have a VHF WX RX, with a VHF VFO mode, for FM RX between 136-174MHz. They have many updates over the...
That will do it (a note to anyone doing this: make sure you use caps suitable to handle the speaker volume levels (peak voltages) if you put them directly across the speaker). I like to add my filter cap across the input to the audio amp, but either way you go, it will help a lot.

I was in the right place at the right time a couple of week ago, I worked Dave VK0DS on 10m SSB, I was using a barefoot AT-5555Nii with a 1/2 wave vertical, 57 both ways. He was calling CQ with no takers. (It's not very hard to work VK0 from the VK mainland though.)
It was poor WX with -40C at...
They are all mostly based on the same Ranger PCB's and circuits that have been around for decades, so mods exist for just about everything...
Personally, the only things I like to do them is a good alignment, and an unlocked clarifier (for controlling the inevitable Ranger SSB drift). And...
FYI - Scott's Radios (and others) on YouTube have plenty of videos showing the ARES 2 waveforms and alignment (carrier down to 1 watt). A very clean 100% AM modulation is what you will see. The AM performance is excellent, but only up to 100%. Anything over 100%, or use of the firmware "NPC"...
On the flip side, the satisfaction you get from undoing these golden screwdriver disasters can be very rewarding. (Although, doing it all a second time doesn't sound as much fun!)
I picked up a DX 979 recently that looked as-new in the box, but "wasn't working". I have never seen such a mess...
I have a K4KIO for the ham bands. Be aware, the most common multiband hexbeams (for ham) you will find have a fairly narrow bandwidth on the 10m element. They do not perform well on 11m at all. Not just because of VSWR, but the lobes do funny things and they loose much of their directivity. If...
If they (the DX stations) are in FM mode and they have the correct CTCSS tone, then yes. But in practice, it's not that likely. I have run a few repeaters in my time and that has never been a problem, but never say never!
I don't have one to test, but from what I can tell, it IS a simplex (parrot) repeater as you mentioned, but with the added ability to select a SPLIT / Offset - if you choose too. (It will not run in full duplex like a traditional "repeater" does.)
From the manual:
To activate the AUTOMATIC...
Heat is always a factor on smaller chassis radios like these. However, failures of the original AT-6666 due to heat are not common despite the "it gets hot" comments you see (they can handle the heat!).
FYI, here is a nice aftermarket fan kit (video from facebook):
I repaired and aligned these ones recently. I got them for a steal, because they had been attacked with the golden screwdriver from hell (broken and completely missing slugs, the works!). Whoever did this must have taken them out of the box, watched an "all the way" video and then proceeded to...
I agree Mike. TX can be made to look good, but the frequency instability is a big problem on SSB TX too. At least it was on the few I have had here.
- I'll also add one to the list: that awful starlite faceplate inverter noise (model dependant).
