My feeling then and now is that it was sub-standard wire gauge, assembly & routing.
Done right, the power cable (complete) will be from $100-$200 when correct in all aspects.
20A draw, and up (6-AWG; 4 is even more likely)
I’ve had them get over $200 following USCG guidelines. (40A at 32’)...
I’m not finding info that sells me on NPC/RC mod on a 959. Felt obligated to look it up. (Gut feel not there)
Then came across that tidbit about phasing, looked worthy.
Messing with a mic makes more sense to me based on what (I think) I want.
Been buying mics for “no reason”. Time to find...

The better the Radio System, the more I hear.
1). Quantity: seems obvious, a better design of system pulls in distant TX.
2). Quality: I wasn’t quite prepared for this one. Vocal details. Lead me to not be so quick to judge what I thought I was hearing. Sometimes there was more.
