Since you installed it you know when things aren’t right. That’s the beauty of installing your own system!
Ya Mother Nature is keeping things tight so far here. Maybe later.
Good thing you found out before any harm to the radio was done!! Did you take any pics?
Coating the whip end is a good idea! I used a little bead of silicone around all the seams and on the base. I also remove the antenna during downpours but I leave the base on which also has a silicone seal.
Conditions were bad this morn on SSB. Went to AM and it was cracking!!! Made nice contacts with Alabama and Tennessee stations. Haven’t been on AM in a while and I had a good time!!! They said I was dropping the maul!!
Went back to 38lsb and the Bama stations had a pipeline into SoCal...
There is nothing coming into SoCal today. An occasional voice in the weeds but besides that..nada. Had to double check and see if the radio was working.
No you won’t. I should have said don’t keep the wiper moist with oil. The oil cleans the contaminants off the rubber wiper. Been doing it for a few years with success. (y)
I found that cleaning the blade helps a ton!! The blades get coated with dirt and junk and stop being effective. I get a rag and spray some WD-40 and run it up and down the blade. You would be surprised how much junk is on there. Try it!!
