I don't care for Mark's attitude and nonsense, but at least he pretty much sounds on air as he does on his videos. I talked to him a few years ago when he was in Amarillo. I was just east of Houston one evening and we talked for quite a few minutes. He seemed like an OK guy then, not sure what...
I only heard you one time, I was hoping to make contact with you. California has been strong into Texas lately. I'll keep listening for you. 553 usually somewhere in Texas.
I believe I heard ForestRunner 98 very briefly this evening on 36LSB calling for an Australian station from a 917 Pasadena mobile. That was all I heard. I tried calling out a minute later but no luck.
Some great dx again today. I had my first ever contact to France with Nicholas. He was hitting me with a solid S5. Plenty of contacts stateside from all over again. I heard Kate in the UK but never got a chance to try to contact her.
38 was a cluster so I didn't hang on there for long...
Tons of DX down in south Texas. I made contacts up north, out west, out east and places in between. I heard quite a few stations across the pond but had no luck as it seemed the stronger station were getting to them first. I made contacts on SSB, AM and FM. Just running an out of the box...
In the description of the video it said he sent it to friends for help on his install.
I'm sure we have all done dumb things with this hobby. I have had at least two radio I had to have the protection diodes replaced.
I am surprised I haven't fried an amp or two by crossing up the input...
While broke down waiting on a tire man I heard 109 in South Carolina getting back to 828 in Amarillo. I made a quick contact with 109 as well. That was on 39 LSB.
I haven't played too much radio this week. I am in a backup truck with my backup radio and my swrs are a little too high.
I have...
Some good conditions from the northeast this morning.
I made it on Radioman 260's videogate.
I am at the 10:28:35 on the mobile antenna then later at the 10:38:20 (about 17:35 youtube video time) using my 2 element beam just 12 feet off the ground. I am running my Stryker 955 with a Ranger Sra...
I went out about 11 am central time and hooked my mobile up to a 2 element beam only about 12 feet off the ground. I made a few contacts up to New York, New Jersey, Rhode Island and Maryland. I talked with a guy in Maryland on the lake running a Anytone 5555 barefoot into a 102" whip on his...
It was quite most of the day down around San Antonio but this evening it is busy. I talked to California and Pennsylvania. I did not stay out in the pickup for long. It will ge nice to get a base station going again.
I have heard quite a few guys on the quad 6 as they call it. They sound good and have enough muscle to get out on sideband. No need, really, for an amp if you have a good antenna.
The 980 is an OK choice, but you will need a rm 203 behind it to get the contacts.
