The Shure has a big Dynamic element and the impedance is about 175 ohms. The audio output level is very low. The plastic case is very thick. It also has a leaf switch. There's really no similarities between the two except for the appearance.

If your antenna isn't a purely resistive 50 ohms then random cable length may act as an impedance transformer. If your antenna system is perfect, then don't worry about cable length.

These are nice in my mobile for scavenging signals weaker than everyone else's noise floor.

I know someone needing a new transformer that scavenged up a few of those from Camp Pendleton when they replaced all the old transformers on the Base. That oil is nasty and full of PCB's.
