Sounds like a smart move. The minute you touch your fingers to the screws somebody wants to blame you for something that happens 2 weeks later.

Why you need a low pass filter when using a splatter box amplifier

I see you haven't figured out resonant circuits yet. Let me help you. http://www.rfcafe.com/references/electrical/NEETS-Modules/NEETS-Module-09-1-1-1-10.htm

Why you need a low pass filter when using a splatter box amplifier

There's nothing attractive about something unproven in the real world. Quite the opposite actually.

Why you need a low pass filter when using a splatter box amplifier

Kind of like wabi-sabi on this state-of-the-art sophisticated rf test bench? It would be really interesting to hear what it sounds like in the real world over the airwaves.

Why you need a low pass filter when using a splatter box amplifier

Since I'm not the one with the Integrity problem I'm not too concerned about whether or not people without Integrity like me or not I simply point out the lack of integrity and let the chips fall where they may.

Why you need a low pass filter when using a splatter box amplifier

What's mean about reality? I never thought there was anything mean about having an honest conversation or expecting people to have integrity.

Looking at getting a compact SSB rig for the compact car.

You are correct I wasn't referring to the receivers since they are both excellent I was referring to the dirty transmitter of the Icom 7000 right out of the box. In the right hands it does have lots of potential but I'm not into Splatter boxes and I really don't enjoy having to run a low pass...

    President Lincoln 2 mic options??

The stock Mic should sound virtually indistinguishable from a Heil PR781. If it sounds bad, it's time to find a new technician or plug in an Astatic 575m6 and crank up the treble so the low end distortion isn't heard.

Looking at getting a compact SSB rig for the compact car.

It will look untouched and you will have a difficult time locating any non factory components. You are partially correct. A textbook tech following a service manual won't get you anywhere close. My AT-6666 easily outperforms an Icom 7000 on 11 meters. It's kinda funny how the folks that...

    Mobile antenna

Why not use a stainless whip on a ball mount? That's probably as wide banded and low Q as you'll find in a mobile antenna.

Looking at getting a compact SSB rig for the compact car.

Show me otherwise and prove it. Until then thank you for your opinion. Thanks for the opinion. Facts outweigh opinions at least in the real world. In my world, identical components yield slightly different results in identical radios due to inconsistencies in their factory installed components...

Looking at getting a compact SSB rig for the compact car.

Knowing which parts to change is half the battle. Any clueless parts changer can swap parts without understanding why. Now to get a variable cap and variable pot to find the precise values.
