Thanks for the input of info because I have had no electronic training at all, just the bits and pieces I've picked up along the way. I wished I would have pushed myself to learn more earlier because it would have been a good retirement job setting at the bench and restoring some of these radios...
I check around on35-40 lsb. I heard some activity earlier today but couldn't get a come-back. But after hearing you guys in the forum I'm beginning to realize it isn't just me. But this stinking valley doesn't help any,so I feel good when I do make a contact.
I keep thinking about improving the receive on my DX 2547 and have been told Germanium is better than Schottky as far as the diode replacement goes so I thought this might create a interesting discussion amongst the experienced repair techs. I figure it is better to make all my mistakes on paper...
Thank you that is encouraging info because I bought the 2547 because I was tired after buying 2 wore out old Uniden 3 button Washington s. But that was 2-3 years ago when skip wasn't really rolling so it got put on the back burner. And now I would like to make it shine. And Brother DX is...

That reminds me of the time I spent in Thailand during the Monsoon season. Nothing like laying in a damp bunk. I sure don't miss that place or seeing them eat Rice Bugs live. LOL
Well was on the run for parts for repairs as usual and that McKinley was banging in the UK on 37 lsb like it was next door with a low noise floor. Also seem to be hearing a lot of Mexican, more so than usual. It will be my luck when Monday rolls around DX will drop out. But at least my kitchen...
Had to laugh reading you guys post because I had to run to the big city today for a doctors appointment and gather supplies I needed from the city area while I was there. The mobile wasn't for crap today when I tried it so it was taking care of business as usual. Well when I got home I took my...
It's been that way around here the last few days. I turn the radio on for a few minutes and right back off. Too many projects cooking to wishful think.
My very first cb radio was a Royce mobile and it must have been cheap because I didn't have much money to invest. It never gave me any trouble But then again I didn't know much or push it to it's limits. And it was a 23 channel radio. I can't remember what ever become of it. Some said they were...
