Have you checked the antenna coax/ mounting? Bad coax can cause all kinds of crazy readings and issues.

Just made a kinda sorta mini contact....Heard nothing on 38LSB so I keyed up trying to make a contact. I think the numbers were 4512 but he was in Ireland and came back to me, answered back but never heard him or another living soul the whole 15 min trip home from work.

We're good for now but don't throw those floaties away just yet... It's a mobile, no base yet.

Weather is too bad for contacts around here. The lightening is popping every 2 minuets and that's all I can hear in my RX.... 9 to +20 dBs. Pretty annoying.

A roll of heat-shrink should take care of that. They make different types (thicknesses) and colors.

Does it do it on both power levels or just 1? How old is the radio, any mods?

Just made a solid contact with 203 Maryland on 38LSB, had a good 5 minute back and forth. Even got a great compliment on the sound of my setup. He was on one of the best sounding radios I've heard in a very long time himself.

Just made contact with 1252 in TX and another station. It's pretty solid on 38LSB right now.

Made a single contact yesterday with "Hardwire" on 38LSB, not sure where he's from though. Other than that I was pretty much just talking to myself.

Spent 3 years in Bochum, Germany. The "working ladies" were cleaner than most of the women you'd see at the mall. Of course it's legal there so the gov gets their cut, hell, it's seen as a "somewhat" decent profession there so the women take very good care of themselves plus health inspections...

Just made a brief contact with 117 Ontario, Canada and a couple of other came back but I couldn't pull their numbers out.

In my truck I ran a ground strap to the mounting bracket, the reason is that I'm mounted to ABS plastic, it lowered some of the antenna noise I was receiving. If you're already mounted to the metal frame of the vehicle, it will do nothing for you.
