A second battery will outperform a big capacitor in a car stereo system. Unless you have a bank of super caps, it's just a waste of money. And I agree with @9C1Driver, a bigger alternator is the most practical solution.

I almost forgot something about the 955. In the latest version, there is a provision to put a factory power board in it to increase the output to 100w if I remember correctly. There is a thread about it here somewhere, I will see if I can find it. Maybe @Greg T knows?
