Thanks for the pictures, looks like the short N2 will be a perfect fit. The mic plug is not an issue as I unplug it to close the lid. The N2 has some really long knobs on it but the chassis is shorter so it should still work. I will be sure to post pictures when I eventually get it done.

I always check mine when I power up along with an audio check on my monitor radio. The President and Anytone radios that show the SWR on the display is handy too.

It looks like it would be a close fit for a tall 50 ammo can. I am going to save up my pennies and try one. Going to replace the 6666 because the noise reduction on my other radios has spoiled me.

Forty watts drive sounds low, how much power were you driving it with? I think it takes 100w drive for rated output?

Hey JJ, I heard you and the California station. Your signal went from booming to in the mud and eventually back to booming. I just figured it was the way DX goes, although the California station was booming the whole time. You guys couldn't hear me, but I did make contact with Arizona. 73 & 51
