Congrats, Shadetree! We want a video showing it off once you get it! I'm almost excited as you are. I haven't seen you with a tube radio since your Sonar was on the front page of this forum for a long time.
If Riverman was closer to Houston I'd go pick it up for you and ship it to you (you pay for shipping), Shadretree. I wouldn't be able to make the trip to Witchata Falls and back anytime soon though.
How's the noise floor? Does it compare with other radios you have on the same antenna? When you adjust the clarifier does it give some sort of + or - indication on the channel display (like the Q5N2 does?)
Maybe I was misinterpreting your posts. Anyway, back to the topic at hand. Sorry to derail the conversation. I appreciate you and Magnuman sharing this workaround. Very curious to hear what Anytone says.
Were your settings for RFG close the same or exactly the same?
Maybe Scott from Scott's Radios could check the factory RFG value of some of the radio he aligns before shipping them out to confirm if they're all the same. He doesn't think there's an issue with any of these radios receive...
I'm not upset. Pez just makes a lot of quick assumptions about people and their knowledge or experience with the topics being discussed. Much like how he dismissed those of us talking about this very receive noise/S meter issue in the original Q5N2 thread. Anyway, back to the subject at hand...
Parroting as in repeating, yes.
Again, I was letting you know that I'm familiar with how noise blankers work, their trade offs, various methods of implementation and their typical performance in 30 years of using them on CB/10 meter transceivers & HF transceivers and that I don't turn them on...
The noise blanker doesn't have this dramatic of a negative effect on any other DSP radio or SDR that I have. And I use a noise blanker often at my QTH and when mobile. I'm very familiar with effects of turning NB on across many radios cheap and expensive (From rci 2950dx to Apache Labs Anan 7000...
One more thing, Magnuman -
Have you noticed enabling the NB on your 5555n II seriously decreases adjacent channel rejection? Like significantly more so than on other radios?
This is noticable during the day when 11m is hopping and full of strong/splattering signals. I can be on a relatively...
