Skip it. Transmit is not wide. There is no AMC VR inside the radio like the 497/955... (There is a place for it, but a SMD jumper across it). The radio requires SMD surgery for it to have more than 80% modulation...
Also smaller than a Cobra 25... Way overpriced...
Cobra 29 LTD Classic with Asymod III Hi-Fi Asymmetric Modulator installed. Like new condition.
- Radio has been completely aligned & Asymod III board tuned by the gentleman that made the board
- Setup for 1 watt carrier and up to 8 watts PEP with the appropriate audio signal in up to 200%...
We have a very similar noise just North of Houston. I hear it on channel 19 often. I've heard guys 15 miles from me talking about the noise while I was also hearing it, so its get some serious range.
I'm using an Oscilloscope to monitor my AM modulation envelope. I always adjust the scope so it shows a bar across the very middle of the screen that is one box up and one box down's total width.
Now I've always experienced this problem to varying degrees, but currently when I touch ANYTHING...
I got the Cosel PLA600F-12.
I've only ever had mine powered on while it was connected to my AB biased 2xMRF455 amplifier. Perhaps the bias draw is constant and not only during TX? I haven't checked the circuit in the amplifier to be sure.
Either way, the fan is LOUD and turning the voltage...
I picked one of these 50 amp 12v supplies up off e-bay for $30 bucks and free shipping. The fan is unfortunately very loud, like the others have stated - far too loud to not be heard in your TX audio... I'm going to try to find a quieter replacement.
With the voltage pot turned up all the way...
I finally got my hands on a handheld CB.
At first I couldn't hear the noise in my driveway on the handheld even when I could hear it on my base radio and got discouraged thinking the noise was too far away to hear it with the rubber ducky antenna on the handheld.
I fired up the base this...
Thanks for the reply, Crusher.
I have turned the main breaker off to my house (no power at all) and the signal is still there (radios running off of battery power). The signal in question definitely goes away when I remove the coax from any of my radios that I'm using.
The noise is pretty...
Here's another example of it when the oscillating sound is slower
Anyone have any clue what this could be? I'm going to find a handheld digital shortwave radio this weekend so I can get a feel for what direction it seems to be coming from.
I hear it on all 40 channels CB/11 meters (all channels at once) and most of 10 meters. On 11 meters it's stronger on every third channel it seems.
The noise is best described as a high pitch oscillating sound. Sometimes it speeds up, sometimes it slows down. Lately it's been present almost...
