Yes he was pretty strong here. I think he is the 3rd contact I have made into VU. 15 was really good for me yesterday got into Indonesia also and lots of European and Scandinavian countries. When it's open like that it's probably my favorite band to work DX.

If you have someone who can keep the old stuff working its pretty cool to have a station like that. If I were you and just getting started I would find something just a few years old or go with an Icom 7300 or Yaesu FT 10 or something like that. Also get the best antenna you can and get it high...

I had a 5 element Star series up for a while several years ago. It was made like a tank. It didn't perform as well as the Lightening 4+ quad I replaced it with.

Is it the Star series or the Cross?

What kind of beam is it? If you can get the bottom of the lower elements above the top of the tower its the best way to go.

One way to find out is to contact them. Any dealings I have had with them are top notch. I have 2 of their antennas up one which is special made one of a kind. Great company.
