my clarifier keeps getting bumped by my family (center console). i've gone into the menus on my 5555n II, and disabled the clarifier for both tranmit, and recieve. most users nowadays are on frequency anyway.
all the way down is auto. try turning the squelch to the right till the screen changes in the model display area.
also, auto squelch for me blanks out strong signals on AM, and is only useful for scanning, not listening. haven't found any FM traffic to try yet.

the newer 'style' board, is what i want. i know owners of the original AT-6666 say they don't drift, but almost every AT-6666 i've heard on air is off frequency. (on SSB)

right on. i've been using Band K CH40 for VFO. i'm hoping to get a band slot setup with all the "safe" 11 meter channels/modes i use most. without a waterfall it's nice to be able to set the squelch and scan different frequencies AND modes.
a firmware update with that would be shaweet. HELL...

annoyingly though it still changes the frequency of the Channel you are on even in Frequency mode (via Menu). while it's nice to be able to program channels without a PC, i wish there were a way to prevent accidental changing of channel frequencies.
