What's in your bug out bag?

Thank you, I do seem to recall a guitarist friend telling me about this, but for some reason it didn't stick. I can repurpose my large, late 90s collection of Doritos brand guitar picks for this lol.

What's in your bug out bag?

I'm over here wondering why the guitar pics and a ferro-rod. Do you have a hack to share with this combo? Or, or are you so good on a guitar that sparks shoot from the strings while picking free bird, and can start a campfire with raw dude power? If the last, I'm going camping with you!

Because we want and strive for perfection, in an imperfect place, appreciating order and flawless function. But we aren't alone, and an imbalance must exist to necessitate our existence. It hurts sometimes and it can make you or break you, you decide.

Cobra 29 LTD Classic R56 and lost ferrite bead

Yeah, you could also "borrow" a part, with all intentions of putting it back either with itself, or one stuck in transit, once it arrives. But please, if you do, make a note and put it inside the donor radio specifying what was borrowed, it's value and where it belongs. I got into the habit...

Galaxy Saturn (original) frequencies are out of wack....

Thanks for the feedback guys, and the story, I bought some to play with anyhow, and I was able to find cross references from 2 locations, both in Russian?, which seem to say they were clones of the cd4008. I will update when they arrive, if they work as a drop in they could be a good cheap source.

Cobra 29 LTD Classic R56 and lost ferrite bead

Careful there, that's how I ended up with stacks of working radios in every corner, crack and crevice, and 1 donor missing everything worth anything. The temptation to turn a working radio into an organ donor is ever present, that does seem silly to me, most of the time...

Galaxy Saturn (original) frequencies are out of wack....

I'm curious if the ex- USSR equivalent adder chips are worth their weight in sand. I found this listing on eBay from Ukraine, but couldn't find any info or datasheet on that adder ic (id be surprised if I did, honestly). At 50 cents apiece, sans shipping, it's in my budget. I'm wondering if they...

    142 Gtl pll issue

Should be the MB8719, do you have the pin info for this pll? If not, I can send you what I have. edit: Also, make sure the reference 10.240 is reaching and you have something (1.43-1.87MhZ) coming from the vco downmix for the phase detector input. If those are okay, check the truth chart and...

1k/20k concentric stacked pot for clarifier

Hey J.J. I hope you are well. I've found an auction with all the pots for a 2kgtl, but $40+ is too much, I just want the 1 pot. I was hoping they still made them like that, but most of what I'm seeing is log or stereo pots. I see what I'm looking for elsewhere, but the values are wrong. I don't...

Has anyone a source for above? Need one for a dx959, changing from a single 1k pot clarifier after expanding slide range. Thanks!

    Tantalum Caps VS Electrolytics

I do, but some only replace them if failed. They dont come in a recap kit so you will need to order them. As I understand, when tantalums were in their infancy, they were prone to failure due to manufacturing processes and electrolytic composition. I don't know what years that timeframe...

Toshiba 2879 Red dot vs Non red dot. What's the difference ??

I check mating surfaces with a flat edge or razors edge (hey yo!). A thick pane of glass, some fine grit sandpaper assortment and elbow grease can get you a mirror finish, perfectly flat. That's how I deck processors and heatsinks. A small drop of thermal compound will cover a large area of...

Desire to learn, humility, modesty and some thick skin. These boys 'round here CAN be brutal, but that's usually the exception and not the rule. It's like a big family, assuming you can get invited to the reunion.
