Yeah, at first I tuned to the dip, then tuned for least harmonic using an sdr. Idk if a sdr is an acceptable substitute for the sa in this instance but I can see the unwanted emissions and reduce them. Im not chasing watts or swing, I don't even know what I will do with this radio, besides...

I found a 330pF and dropped a slug into L38, bingo! I get a pep of 18-20W from a 4W dk. Thanks for the guidance Brandon.

This is interesting, but i can't imagine how that value 470puff got there. It would seem whoever did it would know it wasn't right, with the loss of output and having to remove the slug from L38 to regain a bit. Okay, I can see someone blindly following some mod, but the quality of soldering...

This one has the 82pF cap as c141. All caps, 141,142,143,146,147,148 match the Sam's, and tests to within spec. C149 calls for 120pF but this one has a 100pF. C150 calls for 330pF, this a 470pF. I haven't checked the inductors yet.

The bleeder resistors on the hv caps, are those 240k 3 watt? Lastly, there is a component missing on the relay board of mine, per the schematics it appears to be a capacitor (.01uF?) for the rec amp. Do you know if that is correct and why someone might snip it?

I wouldn't say he was real far out there, just thinking on a different wavelength. Corrosion caused his issue with the plug, but also, copper in contact with aluminum WILL cause galvanic corrosion in the presence of moisture and that COULD cause an issue. It's that "outside the box" thinking...
