Just throwing this in.....
In a nominal "modulated AM signal" you will have the carrier at the center and will have both upper and lower "sidebands" usually filtered to about 3 khz wide. What I mean here is that the UPPER sideband starts at the carrier frequency and goes UP 3 khz and the...
I watched a video this morning on YouTube put up by "Pulsar CB Radio" ...and he says it looks like NTE is gone... down the tubes for good.
Do many here get their parts from NTE???
I'm thinking that is going to hurt.....
I am collecting for two different reasons...
One, I'd like to have one of everything that I ever had back in the day. So far, the only one I am missing is a Wards Gen-719 ... a 40 channel SSB from Montgomery Wards. My first was a JC Penney (6213) Pinto 23 Channel. I don't have the original...
I just snipped this out of the SAMS for the 139XLR just to help "focus ME!".
The only 7.5v zener I see is D25 (feeding CKT TRACE #6, a 7.82 volt source) but the limiting resistor is only 68 ohms. Is this the right place or is there another I am missing?
Just trying to get "better dialed in"...
This is a really weird problem!
I hate to seem a "pain"... but if that 150 ohm resistor was shorted I would think that it would be the ZENER complaining.... not the capacitor. The cap is a 35 volter... and we are only talking about 13.8 vdc here. That resistor however... acts as a current...
I've got to think about this.....
I would think that.... if the new cap is 35v .... it should be able to take the whole 13.8 vdc across it without a problem.
For the cap to heat itself up.... it seems like it would have to be drawing current.... and that would sound to me like it was...
Wow! My hat is off to you two. AB mod??? That would seem to imply to me that this was originall an "AM ONLY" amp.... but was modded to class AB for SSB operation. Is that anywhere close to true?
I am kind of confused though... this amp has an SSB/AM switch on it....and that switch...
Any memory of the actual value of the resistors?
I can't believe that this thing is that old!!!!
Is it even possible that the transistors COULD be good anymore???
I am normally pretty good at searching and I am coming up blank on this one. I have had no trouble finding the Turner JM+2U/M+2U schematics along with plenty of info on the wiring differences between the two regarding relay vs electronic. I also found the Plus 3 desk mic schematic.
But every...
More than anything I was trying to get an idea of what to expect out of it and i think I've done that. I thank you again ... one and all who responded!
I thought I would try this one. I know it is a Fire Bird. The model is F100/BM. Just by the name only, someone else said it was a 2 tube linear capable of around 300 watts. This thing is small.... plus..... this thing has two transistors in it. I can not find any information about this...
BC, that Console V makes my third one. I have my original which has been recapped but I have been to lazy to align it, I have a spare parts radio that a guy sent me just for covering the shipping. I need to pull it in and put it on the bench and see what shape it is in!
As far as the CDE...
The 48 is a 23 channel SSB radio. I have not tried it. It did not come with a microphone and (according to the SAMS book) the mic has a remote volume control that works when you punch the "REMOTE" button on the front. It will work with a non-original mic you just can't mash that REMOTE...
