    11 meter is very quiet?

I have one of those!!!! We went to buy a new van one time. Myself, wife, two boys. He wouldn't hit the mark she wanted... I got up and left the table and went out to our car. About a half hour later, one of our boys came out to the car grinning. I asked how it was going. He said "mom's...

Cobra 29 LTD Classic R56 and lost ferrite bead

And, if I am understanding what I have read before about biasing of the RF final, you DO need it there. I am thinking that it serves as an RF choke to keep RF from splitting down into R56. The addition of the choke makes it a higher impedance path to the RF that is "just passin' through" to...

Got my Tiny SA Ultra (first thoughts)

I did get a DC block.... as the DC spec on this thing is 5v MAX. The one I bought is 50v and I will use insane care beyond that. I do intend to get at least a 40 dB 10 watt and a 10 and 20 dB behind that just to throw in a bag. For the bench I have a 40 dB sampler with a 300 watt dummy...

Got my Tiny SA Ultra (first thoughts)

I do need to research the PC software angle. I am just hoping that I can find a solution that works for me. I am one of those techie types that runs Linux full time at home. I do have Win10 available (but I have to reboot the laptop to get there), and I do have Wine( it is a "Windows...

Got my Tiny SA Ultra (first thoughts)

https://www2.randl.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=16_16990&products_id=75872 This is it. A radio and electronics business in Ohio...... I ordered it online 6/4 and the delivery was made on Saturday 6/8.... I am in the Houston, TX area. That was pretty quick I think. And...if you...

Got my Tiny SA Ultra (first thoughts)

Well it came in, and the first thing I did was run self-test... which worked. But I came back the next day and ran...and it failed self test #3 which was a "signal level" issue. After researching... one of the first things suggested by the make is..... put a full charge on it!!!! And it...

    Last Channel 9 real emergency

i REALLY think that THIS is s true statement. The cell phone "gets around" the chance where somebody might not be listening at the time you need help.

Yippeeeee. My Tiny SA Ultra is on it's way!!!!!!

Yes sir. I got one of those a couple of months ago. While I DID get it to serve my needs in antenna adjustment.... I thought that it MIGHT serve as a spectrum analyzer at LEAST in looking for harmonics. THEN I found the video on YT from IMSAIMAN about using a NanoVNA for a spectrum...

    Last Channel 9 real emergency

Once upon a time....... one could key up on CH9 and ask for a REACT monitor (at least in my area!) and have a reasonable chance of getting an answer FROM REACT or even just somebody who kept a radio on 9 when they weren't doing anything else. These days???????? I don't think there is a chance...

Watched the washington warm up on a C5

and, seriously... you don't need to screw the transistor to the heat sink.... the adhesive on the pads is enough? May have to look in to that...... Thanks!!!

Watched the washington warm up on a C5

I wonder if that would be sensitive enough to temp difference to compare a "mica" transistor insulator and one of these "silpat" insulators that just "stick on"? I've heard of those and even seen sheets for sale.... but my age makes me a little bit wary..... ;)

Yippeeeee. My Tiny SA Ultra is on it's way!!!!!!

I know that they are not a fine lab instrument... but considering that my work is pretty much "hobby level on steroids" I believe it will do fine. I actually have an old 500 MHz Hameg 5006 (w/tracking generator) on the bench. IT is plenty fast as far as scanning. It is just so old that it...

    VOX features on 11 meter

With the language I use.... In the traffic I see..... I don't think VOX is a good idea for me

If you could create a cool new CB product what would it be?

Shade, I think it should "force" them to look at ALL of the spectrum they use. If you make them "go looking" for it.... I figure they WON'T go looking for it and won't believe that it is a problem!!!! ;)

If you could create a cool new CB product what would it be?

A meter that had the intelligence to "act like" a spectrum analyzer.... and break the sampled signal into "frequency spans" and show the signal strength for each span in a tabular form. Why? To prove that "peak and tune"... using only a simple power meter.... isn't doing WHAT THEY WANT YOU...

    Spectrum analyzer replacement ideas???

At this point I have an old Hameg 5006 (512 MHz w/tracking generator) It is good enough for general bench work like what you are talking about (general alignment needs and 54 Mhz trap)... BUT it does NOT do absolute readings (frequency OR signal level)... and I would like to have that base...

    Motorola CM540 no rx

ozcber, I got back and took a look at what I had..... and I am not scanning this. THIS is the official SAMS scan copy. This is what Howard SAMS would sell you if you ordered it. One avenue that you may try....... In this very forum .... right up at the top.... member Dan McClain has a...
