I also try to pay mind to the opposite end of the spectrum, however, and sometimes enough is enough.
This particular officer starts her video stating that she has to prepay because people always pay for her meals, and then breaks out into tears because her egg-McMuffin is too slow for her...
Heard a guy a few weeks ago..
“This is 152 calling international stations ONLY. 152 calling CQ, CQDX - INTERNATIONAL CALING ONLY. CQ international ONLY. 152 standing by for INTERNATIONAL ONLY”
I had to laugh...how the heck is anyone supposed to know where he is from, and what’s...
The thing with a lot of these folks is that they’re hanging out there hoping for international DX. Because someone told them they heard Italy, France, what have you.
But jaw-jacking on 555, with foul language, isn’t like to yield a bunch of international contacts. It’s more likely to get you...
Over the past couple weeks I’ve noticed some 9 division operators asking 2 div folks to move local QSOs OFF of 555.
Though usually done politely, the typical response is, “yeah FU and your POS radio. What the F are you the D*** Canuck channel police? I’ll park my happy a** right here all F’ing...
A few in Ireland and England this morning. Some VERY strong at S9.
Wasn’t on the radio yesterday afternoon/evening but the Cluster shows tons of activity between the US and Europe.
Cutlass,
I put 5 - 1/2” split bead ferrites on my feedline right at the antenna mount and noticed a significant reduction in noise from the vehicle.
My plan in doing so was addressing common mode currents...I didn’t even know that noise reduction might be additional benefit.
Anyway, I...
9/100ths of an ohm on the 20k scale? I’m not sure what you’re showing with those values.
Is this from the braid side of the mount, or the antenna...in other words, are you saying you have continuity from the actual antenna to the truck body?
No, just saying how I would prefer to run them at a level of 100 or so watts output each. I’m certain they can do more than that. How much more, I don’t know.
I tend the think the 4x1446s would be a better bet if that’s an option for you.
A biased 4x1446 amp would be a nice rig. I love those transistors (from experience abusing them years ago). A little over 100watts per 1446, no problem.
Incidentally, that’s close to the same power level I run my DEIs at.
Keep in mind that the ohm meter will tell you continuity at DC. Just because the mount reads good to ground with a multimeter won’t confirm that it works at RF.
What are you changing the mount to?
