The clamp style meters are BS when measuring DC. Hardwire your test leads to the radio. I think you should invest your time in performing the bias procedure, rather than shotgunning the FET's.

Once again they do not make them like they used to... revisited for the 128 time

I have also used the sleeve from an original battery if it is made of plastic. I push the cells out of the end and stack LR44's inside. I have found that the new LR44's suck, like everything else these days and are prone to leakage. I have to check the cells often for this.

I didn't have mine open, but Timmy posted a pic in this thread that I looked at. I sort of recalled that the part designation in the PA were descending, or I would have assumed the same as you did.

What effective DSP units with or without speakers are available out there

Agreed, but in comparison to a Timewave, it was no comparison.

Perhaps go through the bias alignment procedure, before you pack it in.

109 is not a FET....but the other gate voltages look somewhat right. Maybe finals are a bit low and driver a bit high and I mean a bit.

Have you shotgunned the FET's yet?

Red to gate, black to source or a ground point. In SSB TX, you should be seeing around 4V give or take a few tenths of a volt.

    Replacement time for Anytone Q5N2

That's the major difference. You buy from Radioddity, you get support and warranty. You buy elsewhere, you buy and then you are dead to them. To get the short version, you have to order it directly from the Radioddity website. I also want to note, the radio did not come with a programming cable.

    Replacement time for Anytone Q5N2

I have not touched the QT-60 Pro and I have a fully complemented service bench with real test equipment. It *IS* good straight out of the box.

It does not *need* anything done. Anyone that disagrees, is peddling snake oil.

Very real indeed. I posted comparison photos of the long and short chassis in the thread.

I have done the Larsen, Maxrad and Laird 30-34 MHz coil with longer whip. It isn't worth it. I had better luck with an efficient 26-30 MHz shunt fed antenna.
