Been away
Sorry i have not been on to offer any help.
Sounds like you are on the right track.
the Main board 8v Regulator getting hot is a sure sign of a short, usually caused by a bad cap.
C60 and C75 as well as C95 and C97 are the normal 'bad cap' culprits.
'Bad Glue' is always a...
The memory battery is mounted on the inner most board of the display panel.
it is usually a silver coin cell with mounting tabs. and it has a yellow edge covering.
It is about the size of a quarter.
3v lithium.

You will be pleased!
Got the 2510 straightened out.
Blown transistor in the tx circuit and a Bad relay, that was added to bypass the blown transistors.
:)
Final
The Output Final is incorrect, the Original output is a MRF477 and can be replaced with a MRF497 - Those are the pin for pin replacement. The transmitter is designed around these finals. I have found no other fully suitable final. The Bias and tuning is best with these.
I have used a...
Nothing to add
I have nothing to add..
You guys have him on the right track.
Bad Glue and bad caps.
Faulty Regulators. Two 8v and one 5v.
[Note the 5v regulator uses an isolated ground, so measure input and output with the negative lead on the metal tab.]
Check for damaged circuit traces...
Swap
Actually,
The better mod would be to remove the 2510 microprocessor and the 2600 micro, and install a socket in the 2600 and then use the 2510 micro in the 2600.
It will work (done a few this way). You still will have to add the 11 mtr mod to the 2600 (the same way you do a 2510). But...
Rx
Hello,
It could be a bad audio IC, but probably bad caps.
I would suggest a couple of Capacitor replacements.
Typical failure in the audio circuit.
Replace C95 and C97. They are 470uf 10v and 47uf 10v.
Use 16 or 25 volt replacements.
Also you may want to replace Q1, I...
WOW
Hello all,
Interesting thread..
If you clip D129 you will disable the AMC Limiter.
The AM limit transistor will no longer function as designed.
I have that mod posted on my 2510 site, because it was a common modification to disable the AM limiter(it was suggested to me to...
Display issues
Hello,
Radiomaniacc,
First check the 5v regulator, IC312 From the front, the center pin is (isolated) Ground and the right most pin is 5v out.
See if you have that.
The Display board connects thru J304. Make sure it has the correct cable on it.
(J305 goes to the front panel...
First, make sure the Micro is installed correctly and completely. It also could be a bad connection on one of the socket pins. The Micro board is a 4 layer board and some pins need to connect on top and bottom of the board. and some have connections inside on the different layers.
Next make...
From the Alignment page on my site:retune
Alignment of Transmitter Portion:
7 Mode: AM
No Mod. VR107 Adjust VR107 for 10W reading on the RF power meter.
(Thats Dead Key adjustment)

If Cleaning dont work..
I have been able to bore a shallow hole in between the 2 green wafers and inject contact cleaner, that usually cleans out the oxidation.
If that dont work, you can get replacement controls from:
t they are available from CB world lots of uniden parts...
Audio Caps
Hello,
Replace C97 and C95 they are next to the Audio IC.
See:http://www.cbtricks.com/radios/uniden/hr_2510/graphics/hr2510_pb111ab_main_pcb.gif
Its similar to the 2600.
You should replace them with 16volt or 25 volt caps.
Make sure you have the accy jack jumper in place between...
