HR series
Hi,
The original Hr2510 and Lincoln came on the scene approx the same time, the HR2510 was the US version and the Lincoln (HR2830) was the European version ("Export") - Both had the built in programmng for 11 meters with a slight modification, with the small exception of a...
Worth it or not
The point I was trying to make in the previous reply is.
that the swap out typically does not offer more power.
By nominal power I mean 25W SSB/10W AM, Maybe a lil more.
You would probably be better off with 'external' devices for more power. The 497 or the 477 can yeild...
477 to 455
I think I understand your Question..
Actually, the MRF477 and MRF497 were discontinued around the same time. I heard (not confirmed) that Motorola revisited production for a short time, and I am not sure if they are still being made at all.
The Mod to use the MRF455 originally...
C95 and C97
You may have noticed that both of these caps are 10v, typicially they will become leaky or even shorted, If you replace them it is better to use 16v or 25v caps.
You used to be able to get the TDA1905 from Radio shack for a couple of $, But I am not sure if they are still...

Yes,
I am NOT Richard at 8541.
(Do not even know him)

Protection diodes
Yes the diode can be blown without the Glass being cracked.
You need to check it to be sure it is not Shorted.
That is the diodes job, to short and blow the Fuse if it gets reverse polarity. If there is no fuse or too large a fuse it burns shorted. So it has to be replaced.
Things to Check
For a bd layout of the 2510, go to http://www.cbtricks.com/uniden/hr2510/graphics/hr2510_pb111ab_main_pcb.gif
Your looking in the Rear Left corner for D152.
If the Diode is ok, You may have a shorted Final or driver, Isolate the Finals from Power by pulling the Shorting...
You said your antenna is grounded. I assume you have a ground wire and a ground rod.
Try pouring water or a Salt water solution on the ground rod, See if this removes the Noise. If so you probably need a better ground system or need to move the ground rod to better soil.
I hope this helps...

I have a TF46 and Manual.
I can copy it for you.
If you Email me your Postal Address, I will send you a copy.
Does yous have AC power capability? (with the PA202 Power adapter??) or is it just Battery operated? Mine is Battery only, but the manual shows an option for AC power...

There are a few simple mods to bring up the pwr.
remove a cap here, add a cap there...
Remove C132. (infront of ft104)
Add a 330 pf or 660pf cap across C127. (next to L124)
That will bump up the pwr a bit.

And of course...
the standard Lamp in the HR series radio is a 12v to 14v lamp.
sometimes called a "Grain of Wheat lamp'.
It fits into the Orange Lamp boot in in the light frame.
I have seen exact replacement boots in Green in Yamaha Stereo equipment.
