SSB guys just make up a call. The numbers are easy to make out in a pileup.I use something like 878Connecticut. So when people call back 878 they already know what state I am in. AM guys mostly use handles but I hear them doing the numbers thing also. I normally leave the radio parked on 38lsb.

Wheeling isn't going to be much of a problem but its bad with the is top down or windows open. I tried it and it is bad thats why McK ended up in my work truck. But with the band opening more I am putting a 10/11meter rig in the work truck and want to try and make the McK work in the jeep again...

Well the problem is when its further away the wind noise is just going to be worse. The Cobra29/636L combo just worked perfect but I want SSB in this rig. What is your cobra power mic setup? Is it a noise canceling mic?

My TR696 is the same board as the 959. Will be interesting to see what board is in your new AM radio. Watch it just be the same board also just missing the ssb parts. Unlocking the clarifier on the 959 is easy but I am sure you will have to re-align everything. I did it before aligning mine...

My Texasranger 696f does Once I ran through the factory service procedure for the alignment on my TR it became my main CB. It was a dog out of the box but now has great ears. I am sure alot of people are sitting on the side now waiting for groundwire's report!

Ive run scanners off my TV antenna system for years. Works fine. There is going to be loss because TV is 75ohm and the scanners are 50. But its still way better then the antenna on the back of scanner inside.

Is that one guy or just a culmination of everyone? Ive heard it that loud here before but never noticed them bleeding much in to other channels. Usually just 5 and 7.

It looks like the same layout as my TR 696F ssb radio. My bet is its just cheaper to reuse the same tooling and boards on everything rather then do 2 runs for AM and SSB rigs.
