Are you sure the transmitter is even working correctly? Is there some local interference?
I would start with making sure the transmitter is putting out the rated power, the antenna system is good, and its on frequency.
Stinging bofangs together in some sort of rube goldberg fashion would...
I still go to the local ones. I just go knowing I will probably come home not buying a thing. It's the same way with the automotive swap meets. I go not needing anything but sometimes find something unexpected and cool.
It's something to get me out of the house on a sunday morning and its fun...
We had decent group in CT on 2m FM horizontal and everyone ran at least 7elm. Some guys ran stacked 2m9's. From central CT i could rag chew with a guy in Long island with 65watts with ease.
When tropo would pop in all sorts of crazy stuff would happen. One time we where talking to a guy in...
You talking about that schizo Mudduck/harddrive jamming 19? He has been solid in to Connecticut lately in the morning and afternoon.
Still working on getting some FM contacts on 26.805. I hear someone with a roger beep that sounds like a subway door chime but never make the contact.
26.805 is a little ruff for me on my mobile because I have my antenna tuned for the top of CB so I can limp along on 10meters when needed.
What are some common channels people are getting contacts in the "legal" band? Looks like I need to start listening to ch30 in addition to checking ch1.
The people who remember using these models when they where young now are older and have more disposable income. Its the same way with 8bit computers from the 1980s.
I wanted it when I was a teenager and couldn't afford it. Now I can.
You see stuff that was heading to the dumpster 20 years ago...
Always try! You never know!
My 1st ssb contact ever in the tropics was on a barefoot mobile hooked to the 4' firestick on my pickup. Sometimes Mother Nature really helps you out :)
This guy has been live streaming CB channel 19 in the Ottawa, ON, CA area for a few days. Low end Cobra but hooked to a "Sirio Performer 5000 and raised about 65 ft."
Not meant as a political post. I have been trying to hear myself on it for a few days but zero east coast skip lately. :LOL...
The problem is when the band opens the CB side would lock up the repeater with the CB radio unsquelching constantly. Would really need FM and PL/DPL on the CB side to make it work reliability.
And then if you care about such things there may be legal issues since GMRS users need to be licensed.
Read on hackernews that Intel NICs are now getting 52 week lead times.

Thinking about getting a new PC or server soon? Better get your order in now.
100LL. "Low Lead" has way more lead in it then even leaded automotive fuels did back in the day. If you run it long term in a low compression engine that wants 87oct and doesn't get run hard then your going to have spark plug problems.
And 100LL doesn't mix with water. Thats why airplanes have...
He makes a decoder too.....LINK
President has PL/DPL CB in the pipeline LINK
Hopefully they bring it to the US and the price point on that is reasonable.
I cant understand their words but it looks like they modded their anytone radios for PL.

Not having PL for something like this will be annoying. I was part of a simplex group here on 2M that set up a echolink node for guys who moved...
