Ya the case is really well built heavy gauge metal and the mic is a decent build and weight. Bigger speaker then a cobra 25. I hope I can get them straightened out someday.
I wired my Chanel mod to the ch9 switch.
Some people think the sun is really going to start waking up. Maybe to much

When its squeaking do you see it on the radios meter?
I have a 5001z that doesn't always go to transmit. This was new out of the box. It seems really sensitive changes in the antenna system. A friend of mine got one also at the same time that acts the same.
When it fails to go to transmit the...
It could fix it if they are mix #31 or #43. Most of the cheap ones you get on amazon or ebay are not that and don't do anything at 27Mhz.

(y) Hello and welcome!
If they are amplified computer speakers they are likely picking up the RF from your indoor antenna and amplifying it. CBs are normally designed to power their own speaker so if you wired any old speaker to the CB “external speaker” jack it may work better for you.
I...
Ya I am a channel surfer and the "action" on my new 29NW its horrible. Im keeping my eyes out for a parts radio to rob the real channel switch out of to replace the cheesy encoder with.
Thats why I was wondering if 25 got the same treatment or if it still has a real switch.
Did the new Cobra 25's get the cheesy rotary encoder the 29's got?
I had fun hotrodding my 29 NW and was thinking about picking up one of the factory refurb 25s.
I guess the sun is doing lots of stuff. Maybe the skip is carrying all noise from the wrecked power grid down in LA all over.
I had that real nasty noise up here in Connecticut this morning also but now its quite. It wasn't a local thing I was up on the highway for about an hour and...
Ya the ASC doesn't work well at all on my linc. :(
Interesting how the Euro model has a PL antenna connector on the battery eliminator but on the US version you have to mess with the BNC on the top.
Here is some FM Randy action I found on the youtubes
OK glad someone who got them before chimed in. I was 1/2 thinking about getting a 25 to play with since I had fun hacking up and modding my NW 29. But if this deal is nothing special i'll wait and see what happens after FM hits.
I wonder what Cobra plans to sell? They where the ones who...
It's to bad they don't sell those anymore. I really like the 980 layout for mobile use.
Cobra's Ebay store is selling "refurbished" 25's and 29's for cheap-ish. Are these really refurbs? Or is it really overstock they are calling "refurbished" so not to undercut their own dealers?
It just...
Do you have an external speaker? Try unplugging that.
I have ferrites on my antenna, power, and speaker leads. Even a small clip on one for the mic lead.
Ya was thinking about getting this for the spotter radio in my jeep. Now I think I will wait for FM and get a pair. AM will let me keep compatibility and the FM will be nice portable to portable.
I have a uniden pro401hh. Its dead simple and works but the pile of AA's it needs are a hassle.
Yea I think the biggest growth in CB lately was the jeep/offroading users. But that has been cut off with Midlands big push for GMRS and all the "race radios" being sold. Since that stuff is all FM it doesn't really matter that they are wiring the radio in to the noisy factory harness or cig...
I know FM CB is not a new thing in the rest of the world so this poll aimed at the US users here.
Now it looks like FM will become legal  soon does anyone plan on getting a FM radio?
I saw another post talking about trying to establish a FM calling channel on 1 and thought was a...
In my state we used to have a decent group on 2 meter simplex. Horizontal FM only.
I ran a 2m7 on a rotor. Other guys ran stacked 2m9's or stacked loops if they didn't want to mess with a rotor. The king of the frequency ran 3 stacked 2m9's with a beko LDMOS amp that did 1KW+. I can only imagine...
