Shouldn't have to use a computer to make any adjustments. All can be done from the radio. Besides the Functions Menu - the Test Menu is accessed by having radio Off. Press & Hold SCAN and turn radio on. Glad you are liking it. I saved $100 by getting the 655. Have an Icom rig for SSB & FM.
I have a 2 week old Megawatt S-700-12. Used briefly, then replaced with a 100A supply. This one is adjusting to 14.56 as shown. In factory box. They are $145 on eBay. I'll save you $25 and send for $120 Shipped Priority Mail. Paypal fine.
I'm not having an issue, but remembering many stories about the factory Pot on 667 & 500V's going bad and was due to the pots not being heavy duty enough or something. Googled for an article but didn't see anything. Anybody here remember the issue and What Value Replacement pot is better that...
Never heard of that. Could always be checked on an Analyzer and see what happens. Made me think of trying it on 6 meters just to see as it comes close or within on the 2X wavelength. Sure enough mine is 2:1 SWR at 52.5 mhz and tuned right up with the tuner. However was too far out of resonance...
Cycle 25 looking like a boon to everyone wanting to make some great contacts and fill up a logbook. Been a very long time since I worked Japan on the higher bands. Had a nice chat with Tad, JH1HDT in Toyko on 28.465 SSB Wednesday. Good job for me from the east coast with 100 watts on the 160M...
The setup is working great for me. Several strong domestic contacts Tuesday and just now worked IW5EKR in Italy and he was Mobile ! - Wed. AM at 9:00est., 29.000 Go Cycle 25 !!
.
A little later this morning got France and England too
Starduster in today in perfect condition. I've had them in the past so the assembly went fast. Put together, tuned up and on the air in an hour & a half including the several trips up & down the ladder onto the roof. 1.2 SWR throughout 29mhz. DX is a little down today, didn't hear anything up...
Just learned about this one last night. Frequently more than 70 users on at a time so it has good multi-user capacity. I don't see what kind of antenna they're using but trying to find that out. On a funny note - I punched in 10M to then tune down to 11 .... and the Default 10M frequency was...
Feel lucky as crap to get one from a local friend in a trade 2 weeks ago. A 500V less than 2 years old and was used very lightly. Has the gold label HG pills and had the heavy wire inside mod done to it with 6ga. out the back. Looks and works like new. Swinging to 525 on a 100 amp supply at...
Whatever you put on top .... I would definitely use Guy Lines at least at the top of the mast below the antenna to hold that thing up. Aluminum will bend over in a strong wind. 3 Guy Lines of non-conductive rope like Dacron (parachute cord) 120 degrees part should hold it up. Good luck with the...
It's more popular than many think. I've already worked over a dozen stations in the last few weeks with what I have. Europe is coming in in the mornings. Use whatever you have to get on the air. You're hear guys using the whole gamut of radios from the classic AM transmitters like the Johnson...
As I've mentioned before I enjoy working 10M AM. We already have the great propagation up there with this Solar Cycle Peak approaching and will have great domestic and DX for several years. My Icom sounds decent on AM but lacks higher power and doesn't have the true AM Modulation scheme. There...
Yeah .... I'm not doing any microsurgery on an SMD chassis. There are techs in the area that do that but their fees make me wince. I'll live with the regular decent audio that I have now, thanks
This is a common occurrence with these 10 meter mobiles both out of the box and after a freq. conversion. Take it to a competent tech for a full realignment which requires particular procedures for each chassis and good test equipment.
