Andy, sorry, still confused so last time: So in my situation with 1N4148 both have bands to the left, are you saying that is OK? And sorry again, do I leave them or try zeners...Sorry/thanks, Adam
OK Andy, a little confusing for me as I am not too bright so I guess I will try to figure out what other component(s) may be bad. Thanks again for always trying to help. Adam
Hi Andy, you know so much it's frightening and I know so little. So, can I hopefully remove D90 and D92 the 1N4148 and replace each with a 5.6V zener and in the polarity shown in the schematic (not the way they are now)? With any luck will that fix the problem? Adam
Hi Andy, etc...So I put the DX-2547 aside for a while and decide to look at the 2 diodes that are right in front of each mosfet, D90 and D92, the manual shows them as 1N4148 but what is interesting is that the manual and the circuit board clearly show the orientation of the diodes the opposite...
Rats Andy, replaced the cap (.047uf/50V) but no luck. Anyway, I will perhaps check a few diodes and resistors, I will ask this last time for your help then take the radio out back and shoot it. For diodes (zeners) etc, forgive me again, best way to check them and which ones are the most likely...
Hi Andy, OK, so I figured out the correct settings for my meter and on the first test measuring TP9 to TP7 and adjusting VR12 the service manual calls for a 50ma setting which was no problem. For the testing between TP8 and TP7 and adjusting VR10 the service manual does call for 100ma but I...
Hi Andy, I will do that tomorrow but I am embarrassed to say when it comes to using the ammeter portion of the meter for some reason I always have trouble. I use an old Fluke 75 DVM (pic attached) and I assume red lead to the 300ma socket, black lead in common socket and set the meter for DA...
Andy, I installed the .01uf disc and interestingly enough it did make some sort of difference. On AM deadkey is 1/2W and with audio it swings to 10 . SSB swings to nearly 15 so perhaps we are getting closer? Adam
Actually I tried a quick adjustment on the 2 trimmers but it did not make that much of a difference, maybe a 1/4 watt so I set the trimmers back to where they were so it must be something else. You mentioned diodes, do you know which ones I can check? Sorry, if this is taking too long and you...
Hi, so I got the radio about 6 months ago and I used it on and off several times with no problems. It came with 2pcs of an IRF520. Then the power dropped yesterday when I went to use it and luckily I had 2pcs of an IRF520N which I installed but did not really do much. So I guess I have mosfets...
Wow, I posted results but they did not show so here goes again:
