Right. Per transistor, and SSB only. So, 400 watts for the DX500, and 800 for the DX1600. It’s actually slightly more with the truck running, and less with it off. I drive the 500 with 12ish watts, and 30ish into the DX1600. The DX1600 ran like that, with truck running and holding voltage...

I use a 1kw MFJ and even the DX500 heats it up pretty quick. Of course I’m a cheapskate so it has peanut oil in it. Lol.

My 2018 CTD Dodge is much more noisy than my 2005 Hemi. That surprises me. I work DX with truck off, but I find that the truck generates QRM right until the dash lights go out...10 minutes or so. Have a 100’ roll of 3/4” tinned braid. Time to get to work.

I’ve been happy with my DEI amps and so far have no complaints. 8 months on the DX500, and a month or so on the DX1600. About 100 watts peak per device, and no complaints. While that may not be enough to keep some folks happy...I’m good with it. It takes a lot less drive to reach those...

Yeah, I guess he probably meant DEIs, but who knows. One would think TS would just switch over to HGs at this point. Copper pulled everything, though. Not just TS amps. Post above about a “drawer full” of letters is probably accurate. Very slim chance they have not been down this road before.

What’s the plan for now, CB? I think I’d be a bit uncomfortable running HGs at those SWR levels. Do you think the amplifier is generating harmonics that give the higher reading?

Posted before but belongs in this thread. My first day playing with the DSP, in the driveway with nasty neighborhood QRM. DSP turns on at about 10 seconds....never went above 9 o’clock on the dial.
