Wonder if these could be made to work?
The Flasher on AM. Took my late Fathers handle over after he passed in 2018. Before that, I was The Green Hornet. I had the truck to back it back then. A nearly neon green 1977 M880 military Dodge. Had a Green Hornet painted on both fenders. Ran a steel whip on a quad mag mount back then. Tall...
I imagine so. I rebuilt a grenaded one with 13N10’s. Not too sure what you may find as far as more power though. Keep in mind the circuit board is double sided.
Yesterday evening I heard alot of traffic out of FL, and many were talking about taking their higher profile antennas down. Others were leaving them up. They all have been coming in best in the evenings. Hope to hear many on this evening! That would at least mean they are well enough to shoot...
I believe it would be best to do so, yes. I have always been inside of the cab where the coax routing ends to do testing. That, or far enough away from the antenna as to know I am not influencing the readings. Not too sure how much you could unless you are right next to it though. I admit I have...
Try looking into a Nano VNA. A bit smaller, yes. But, best of my knowledge they do everything the ZOOM’s do and then some. Seem to go for around a quarter of the price also.
Try? It is fairly easy. Given the cost of the boards the resistor needed is a drop in a bucket if it is indeed needed. At times I think you reply hoping someone comes back at you in as much of a negative way as you come at them. I will not feed your demon there, but I will echo what many have...
You put new transistors in? Or tested them properly? Could be a relay contact issue also I would imagine. I have one that began to go deaf and I confirmed it was the relay itself.
I did buy a handful of these after reading this thread back then. I still have yet to use one. I rebuild my own (all or most, if needed) original elements with as many original parts as possible. I usually stick to crystal and ceramic though. This is making me want to mess with one of the late...
I have one that does the same thing. As soon as you turn it on, even not hooked to a radio it keys up. You can hear the relay click. I may be wrong, but I believe the keying transistor is popped on mine.
Doesnt sound right to me. Output should remain consistent if I understand everything you have said correctly. Sounds like something could be amiss with the radio. Hard to know for sure.
I have a pile of various Radio Shack handhelds. Too many models to list. One of my favorites belonged to a late friend of mine. His family gave it to me after he passed. TRC-231 is the model. Works very well. I also have a 23ch Courier that has a power supply support that facilitates using it as...
I have a small pile of the older type switches. Not the newer unmarked ones. I leave for work within an hour out of state and will not be back home until Sunday morning. PM me on Sunday if you cannot find one by then. I did buy some older boards from this seller if you want prefer that route as...
I had a 25LX given to me that does not work. Only looks pretty. Honestly, I would steer clear from them unless it works and it is free! Just me though, as I am sure there are some out there enjoying them.
I believe you should be fine. I know I went a bit overboard on turning down the power. I can never really feel any heat from the thing, even when rag chewing on AM. I have thought about bumping things up a bit, but I will likely just leave it alone. The setup has done very well for me for what...
