Ok yea I tried for the heck of it. Followed everything as instructed and didn't get anywhere near the 45-50 watt claim. Although I was tuning it to be clean on the oscope so maybe I lost a couple watts doing it that way.

Did anyone ever end up getting 50 watts out of a radio using this mod procedure?

Well bad news. Tx is gone. I guess your right Andy about a bad coil taking out the transmit side as well. This went from bad to worse.

I'm getting a signal between the antenna and tr17 but it looks like this:

My signal generator is set at 27.205 with 1000hz tone. What do you think about the scope signals in the pics? I did go through and resolder the antenna jumper wire and replaced c158 just to make sure that was all good. I'm not sure what you mean with remove tr17. If I remove it how can I look...

Also I probed the end of the coax for a signal on scope and I got one. Then plugged into back of radio and probed wire going to pl239 and signal is gone?!

The coax is good. Even put it on another radio and Worked fine. I should add that the rx was still not 100% even though the signal was strong coming out.

Alright will put on a different piece of coax and see what happens

Ok so I might of stumbled upon something. I was verifying that my signal generator was still working. As I went to disconnect the coax from back of radio my receive came back. I did already check tr17 for voltage and I'm not getting 8v on collector like it calls for. I did replace it just for the heck of it with no luck. I guess what I should be doing is seeing where I'm losing my 8 volts at.
