Ok yea I tried for the heck of it. Followed everything as instructed and didn't get anywhere near the 45-50 watt claim. Although I was tuning it to be clean on the oscope so maybe I lost a couple watts doing it that way.
I did try the RF gain while probing the emitter pad, voltage went up and down. That's when I noticed my tx was shot. You had said to tx into dummy load. I was using my bk 1040 and noticed the meter barely moving. S meter in radio was still moving forward though. I did a quick voltage check on...
Did some more checking and finally found something! Yes I did check for continuity from so-239 to board, it's good. Removed tr17 and probed pads for voltage. .3 mv on base, 8.7v collector, 2.3v emitter. When in circuit numbers stayed the same except base was 1.8v. Now while it's out I have a...
Never got a chance to get back into the radio yesterday. I have already checked the d15 and d16 pin diodes by lifting one leg of each. The rx stayed the same as far as being able to hear anything. Never did check to see if there was a difference in scope waveform. I also already replaced c333...
My signal generator is set at 27.205 with 1000hz tone. What do you think about the scope signals in the pics?
I did go through and resolder the antenna jumper wire and replaced c158 just to make sure that was all good.
I'm not sure what you mean with remove tr17. If I remove it how can I look...
I through the dmm on the radio before I left for work and looks like I have about 9 volts on pin 11. Just looked at the schematic quick and I believe I'm reading the pins in the right order. Pin 1 would be top left with radio flipped over. Going to check all pins later today and report back my...
Well I got a little bit of time and figured I would try fooling with my scope again to try and show you guys what I'm seeing. Please tell if these pictures look right. First picture is what I'm getting when I probe antenna jumper, so-239 and everything in between up to tr17. Second picture is...
Thanks for the help so far everyone. Andy what do you mean when you say check continuity from center to board?
I did like you said and reflowed the two mounting tabs in the back, no difference. Also reflowed the area that the antenna wire goes into the board. Next on my list is to definitely...
Also I probed the end of the coax for a signal on scope and I got one. Then plugged into back of radio and probed wire going to pl239 and signal is gone?!
The coax is good. Even put it on another radio and Worked fine. I should add that the rx was still not 100% even though the signal was strong coming out.
Ok so I might of stumbled upon something. I was verifying that my signal generator was still working. As I went to disconnect the coax from back of radio my receive came back. I noticed that if only the center pin is inserted and leave the collar unscrewed on the pl259 I have rx. So I'm guessing...
Thanks for the reply Andy. I tried my best to follow along with what your saying. I will swap out the caps being that the radio is older and also has some 10v in it. I definitely think ic1 is what is causing the radio to act up. But what is causing ic1 to act up is the big question. Looks like I...
I did already check tr17 for voltage and I'm not getting 8v on collector like it calls for. I did replace it just for the heck of it with no luck.
I guess what I should be doing is seeing where I'm losing my 8 volts at.
